I lived most of my life in Europe, moved to the states some 10 years ago. I think I know both systems well now. When patients bash Obamacare who are otherwise medicare or medicaid patients I just shrug my shoulders and wonder what they are talking about. Most healthcare providers dont want medicare/medicaid or obamacare patients because they pay less than ie blue shield and other commercial insurers. Its about half compared to each other. On the other hand, since citizens have access to health care through insurance we have seen a surge in outpatient visits. Not a lucrative one, as explained above why. But at least the individuals who otherwise wouldnt have insurance (because they dont/cant work) now get outpatient medical specialist care, without having to run to the ER each time. This, longterm seen will cost the healthsystem less money, as most of the expenses are hospital care based. In my homecountry, healthcare insurance is mandatory. Everyone pays. If you have a job or not. If you cant afford it, the local state you live in, pays part of it (after you apply). Healthcare should be based on solidarity. The young and healthy ones pay for their older co-citizens. As a provider, I am not particular about seeing medicaid or obamacare patients (they pay the lowest) and I have to work twice as much to generate the same income and pay my employees. But I do it. Its just breathtaking, how negative propaganda influences a lot of citizens and make them bash things which are actually in their benefit. Not to digress here I will stop. My 2 cents.
