That's impossible to say. The noise isn't a sign of impending failure, just a side effect of the frequencies used in there. It can fail without making a noise, or can whistle like a teapot for years.

Agree, mine has squeeled like a strangled starfish for years but never fails.

I had a squealer for years.  A good smack upside the monitor usually silenced it.

FWIW, I haven't seen an intact 1084 front panel even once in all the years I've been shopping at surplus stores.
I've seen dozens of 1084's and 1084S's, and every single one has either no front panel at all, or one that is hanging from one hinge.

The plastic power cable guide on the bottom of the monitor is usually broken as well.

Hi,

I know this may look like a stupid question; but in order to hear sound from my monitor then do I have to contact some cables from the monitor to the A500 Audio connectors (the red and black one on the back)?

If yes, then does any cable fit? Anyone knows how I can build a replacer?

Regards,

Yes, you should connect the red and black stereo outputs of your A500 to the corresponding inputs on your 1084. You can use any old RCA style plugs. The same that you use with hifi equipment. Chances are you already have one of those cables lying around and if not you can buy them at virtually any consumer electronics store in your neighbourhood.

EDIT:

Plugs like these
