The title of item is "AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 CD for the AmigaONE X1000 "First Contact" system has gone GOLD"

The subject topic is the update 5 CD for X1000. Thus, one would at lest expect to hear what are the improvements in the update 5, if any.

Additionally one would at least expect to learn what HW will be supported by this update.

• Does this update enable the 2nd CPU core to be used?
• Does this update enable the use of more than 2GB of the system memory?
• Does this update enable built-in audio?
• Does this update enable built-in SATA?
• Does this update enable built-in USB?
• Is there 3D support for the graphics cards included?
• Does this update enable/utilize the much praised XMOS chip?

I for one would be quite interested to hear what exactly can be expected from the system while waiting for the mysterious 4.2 release.

My X1000 has been running very nicely for a while now :-)

Can you answer those questions then? Oh wait, I forgot, you're under NDA...

I guess it's up to the end users to find out for themselves what they're stuck with.

given that beta-testers are, and have been using, the system for a while, you're better off asking them.

They cannot answer. They're under NDA.

So I assume, given your intense interest, that you're looking to buy one?

Most certainly I am not. I have better uses for 2.5 k€.

I'm fairly sure that the 4.2 release isn't "mysterious".

The actual content of the 4.2 release remains a mystery, as well as the possible release schedule. It could be several years, and whether things like 2nd core or full 64-bit support will ever be achieved remain a mystery. All quite relevant questions considering the nature of the HW being sold. Running 32bit single core OS on such HW is much like (..reader beware: car analogy follows) buying a sportscar and disabling 3/4 of the engine.

Piru, I appreciate your coding skills, but please consider how you come across with these type of posts.
