Done also :).

"Cheap Asses". Stay classy, and good timing, btw. A kind gesture regardless.

I see no subject field whatsoever in your Flash mail form, only "Name", "E-Mail" and "Message" fields.

@Transition
Why not rename a.org to emuamiga.org?
-
I signed up too : P
There was no subject field though, so I just put the phrase in the body of the message..
-
Good luck to to you all!
-
It is really unpolite, coming from a website forum administrator to call some of its user "Cheap Asses".
Maybe it is the way DiscreetFX does business, and shows the way they think about its customers and/or potential customers.
OMFG Grow a pair will you

hell yeah I'm in. and I'll admit to being a cheepass.
and if I don't get the AF2011, throw some VT/Flyer related stuff this way.

In AmigaLand there's no harm for being a cheapass occasionally. This hobby costs serious money sometimes!
-
bazinga!

Please put "I am a cheap ass
I realize this "cheap ass" is tongue and cheek and most likely related to the recent posts about linking to disk images, I thought I'd note that posting Amiga Forever as an alternative location to finding ADFs for real Amiga is 100% ILLEGAL!

Anybody, that continues to post suggesting to buy Amiga Forever and rip the ADFs as a way get disks for the "real" Amiga's will from now on be reported for their PIRATE activities!

It is interesting that they have pointed out that THEY have crippled the OS3.x installation so that it won't work on real Amigas. However, were they forced by their license to do that, was it a deliberate choice by them so that it couldn't be used on real Amigas, or was it just a result of their "tinkering"?
Unless the license says otherwise, they is absolutely no reason why they can't have a hard drive environment that works on UAE and also happens to work on a real Amiga. They may not be able to advertise it for use on a real Amiga, but as UAE happens to emulate one then it is hardly their fault that it works.
-
I don't really want or have a need for AF, but if they offer Workbench for sale, let me know!

Was done on purpose of course, enforced on them.
What do you mean with OS3.x btw? 3.X?

Ah, finally, I thought that this link would never showed up.
Anyway, the first one to report here is the moderator Transition who had closed the other thread and the next day appears to have an offer from Cloanto. Not to mention that he deliberately connected two totally unrelated issues (stock AOS 1.3-3.1 ADFs and AF a Win/Linux amiga emulation suite).
-
Was done on purpose of course, enforced on them.
What do you mean with OS3.x btw? 3.X?
You know it was forced on them or are you guessing? Their old hard drive environments didn't have this problem.
I assume you don't own AmigaForever. OS3.x/WB3.x is their pre-installed custom Workbench environment based on WB3.1, but tarted up to look like OS3.9 on steroids and with lots of added software. They call it 3.x because it isn't 3.0, 3.1, 3.5 or 3.9.

Report away numptie, I bought The Premium Edition of Amiga Forever and the only things on it that were of any use to me were the DVD videos... :(
Amiga Forever is totally useless for those of us who still use real Amiga hardware as the stuff on it is not the proper and untouched original Workbench disks... ;)
So there is nothing to rip from it, so what on earth are you going to report...
It's very obvious now that Cloanto is more important on this site than it's members, which is both a shame and damn disgrace... :(
Amazing what a few free copies of Amiga Forever can buy you these days... (almost as bad as Coke Zero)... :madashell:
-
Done. Now given that I decided to spend my £20 on Spectaculator the other day instead of Amiga Forever this would be sweet :)

Well if that was meant to be funny then I aint laughing (don't get it)
So DiscreetFX is paying for this compo in order to support Cloanto, well it's your money and your entitled to do with it as you wish... :)
But why does Cloanto have the rights here to complain about certain things and force thread to be shut down and no explanation is given as to why certain links that they don't like have to be removed, or the decency to say why the thread has been closed or what was wrong with the link in the first place...
It's the same old story one rule for them another rule for us, reckon I'll just have to add Cloanto to me hit list along with CUSA & Mickey Mouse... ;)

@Franko
The answer can be found by rubbing a bottle not can of Pepsi Max. Drink or dump out then read the inner bottom.

I don't really exist (and this is all an illusion)...
A Squirrel ate me brain...
Im really Napoleon (I used to be Julius Caesar)...
My dogs died (again)...

That was total with shipping from UK to the USA DHL express Fitzsteve sent it out Wednesday and I got it Today I could not find a 600 here for that price..
Chris :roflmao::roflmao:
-
@ ChrisUnionNJ
Ahh... well if you had it shipped all the way from the UK then you did indeed get it at a fair price... :)
Odd how when you compare eBay prices in the UK and US that big box Amigas like the A4000 go at half the price in the US than compared to the UK, and A600s and A1200 are almost double the price in the US than in the UK... :)
-
My A4000, A3000 where bought from the USA, was cheaper even with delivery then to get them from here. and my CD32 and a A1200 NOS (Amigakit) came from UK again cheaper then if i bought them here in Australia although i have bought another A4000 from Oz (cpu card is not working) the system from America was still cheaper.
O BTW put my name down hope i get one.....
Not that i would crack it and post it on torrent site or anything like that... would never do that... :D
-
LOL I have to say I like this competition because their has been a lot of people complaining and winging about the price of what is the ultimate PC emulator of Amiga environments and I think thats a shame because it is a great product and does add enough extra nice features over a standard WinUAE install. I've got Amiga Forever 2010 with the free update to 2011 so I dont need to say “I am a cheap ass and want to win a free Amiga Forever 2011 Premium Edition” but I love the idea so respect to DiscreetFX for the competition.
-
Maybe penny pinchers, except here in Oz we eliminated pennies years ago, so I guess the modern equivalent would be 5 cent pinchers?

How does one make up change? Or is there a round up/convention employed?
-

Im guessing everyhting is priced in 5 cent increments.
Or do you have things for $2.99 ?
-
It's round up, round down at the register. $2.99 would appear as $3.00 at the register, as would $3.01...
Electronically the cents are kept.

Wow... good job I've never been to OZ as I would go mental at such ludicrous behaviour (gawd it's almost as absurd as the Workbench copyright crap)...
Why oh why oh why... bother to put a price on some thing (ie: $2.99) when you cant even pay that price... Strewth mate what's the phone number of your Prime Minister I think I feel a new mission coming on... ;)
-
She's a ginger, never argue with a ginger.
BTW, we still have some of the full size £sd coins. The florin is our 20 cent coin and the shilling our 10 cent coin. You get a pocket full of 20 cent coins and you develop a hernia. Oh and the two smallest coins we have are the 5 cent (old sixpence) and the $2 both about the same size, only the $2 is thicker...

That's how all Gas is sold in the U.S. $3.989 per gallon for example. People don't even notice any more because they sort of hide that last nine and make it a little smaller on the signs. But if you go buy a 1 gallon of gas I wonder what they charge you? $3.98 and 9/10 of a penny? Hold on sir let me get my metal cutters out shave some of this penny off!

It's the same here with petrol prices but as I don't drive then it doesn't bother me. Only if I'm in a car and the driver pulls in to the garage to fill it up, I then attract the attention of the cashier and point at the prices and make the sign for that's nuts at him or her (generally I get the sign back for f-off in reply)... :)
PS:while we're on the subject why do you call it "gas" in the USA, its a liquid, never could get me head round that one... :)

gas is short for gasoline: From Wikipedia:
Etymology
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6a/GasCan.jpg/170px-GasCan.jpg) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GasCan.jpg) (http://bits.wikimedia.org/skins-1.17/common/images/magnify-clip.png) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:GasCan.jpg)
A gasoline can (which are typically red) from Midwest Can Company
"Gasoline" is cited (under the spelling "gasolene") from 1865 in the Oxford English Dictionary.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-oed-0) The trademark Gasoline was never registered, and eventually became generic in North America and the Philippines.
The word "petrol" has been used in English to refer to raw petroleum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum) since the sixteenth century.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-oed-0) However, it was first used to refer to the refined fuel in 1892, when it was registered as a trade name by British wholesaler Carless, Capel & Leonard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carless_Refining_and_Marketing_Ltd) at the suggestion of Frederick Richard Simms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Richard_Simms), as a contraction of 'St. Peter's Oil.' [2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-1) Carless's competitors used the term "motor spirit" until the 1930s.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-etymonline-2)[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-3) The Oxford English Dictionary suggests that this usage may have been inspired by the French pétrole.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-oed-0)
In many countries, gasoline has a colloquial name derived from that of the chemical benzene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzene) (e.g., German Benzin). In other countries, especially in those portions of Latin America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_America) where Spanish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_language) predominates (i.e., most of the region except Brazil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil)), it has a colloquial name derived from that of the chemical naphtha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naphtha) (e.g., Argentine/Uruguaian/Paraguaian nafta).[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#cite_note-4). However the standard Spanish word is 'gasolina'.

Ahhh... as simple as that eh... well I never... :)

Oh yeah... go on blame the Brits... (I would) cos I'm not one of them, Scottish thru & thru, Brits is just them lot south of the border, always causes nothing but bother that lot... :D
PS:Meths is much better & cheaper, just don't drink anymore than 3 pints at a time... ;)

LOL! Franko - Good one - Of course its the colloquial for gasoline.
I never understood, why Europeans called Soccer - Football - Oh, wait - never mind. LOL! 8^D
-
Because it is gas, you just see it as a liquid, it has a flash point below zero. If you remove it from the container it becomes gas as you point out, and very dangerous too.
-

Nope too late you've said it (and I don't even like football either) but... :)
Football is the original and only proper name for the game (generally you use your feet to kick the ball)... :)
Soccer is a made up word by you lot over the pond cos you tried to nick our term Football to use in you're Rugby game you call American Football, which is daft as you use your hand in that silly big girls blouse of a game and hardly use you're feet, plus you play it using a Rugby ball just to confuse maters further... ;)
The worlds biggest and most viewed sporting event is called "The Football World Cup" not "The Soccer World Cup"... ;)
Definition for fifa:
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (International Federation of Association Football), commonly known by its acronym, FIFA (usual ), is the international governing body of association football.
It's like Tap but you lot call it Faucet, why do you murder the English langauge, there's a thought why has it got to be called English ruddy southerners worse than you lot over the pond... :D
-

It's only dangerous when you pour it over someone and tease them with a match... :)
PS:It's still a liquid though "Liquid Petroleum"... ;)
PPS: So that makes water a gas too as it will evaporate when exposed to the air... ;)
-
@ Franko
"why has it got to be called English"
Ah ! Now here I can speak as an 'expert'. English & Scottish are NOT the same language. They share a lot of words & have many others which are similar, hence speakers of both languages can (sometimes) understand each other, much like Breton & Welsh speakers.
I know this because although I was born in England, my dad was from Glasgow (Ma da' wuz frae Glesca)
See what I mean, Franko ? LOL ;-)
-
The worlds biggest and most viewed sporting event is called "The Football World Cup" not "The Soccer World Cup"... ;)
Of course, that's why that game is called SWOF, Sensible World of F...
um..
You sure you call it football over there??

Scots is to English what Bavarian (or Yiddish, or Schwyzerdütsch) is to German, only the Scots are much more uptight about it being not English :)
As a Norwegian I often find Scots easier to comprehend than Queens English, there's many Scandinavian words in use and the pronounciation is in general closer to what we're used to. To read it can be tricky though, almost have to read it out loud to hear what's being written.
-
Therer are a lot of football codes. Usually a country has only one football code that becomes popular and gets the moniker football. Common codes are: Soccer, Rugby League, Rugby Union (my favourite, but it almost never gets called "football"), AFL, Celtic rules and Gridiron...

Ok, so it was the English who first came up with the term "Soccer" (trust them to f it up...)

Don't see how you can abbreviate the word "Association" into "Soccer"... (Ruddy English, can't even get their own language right...)
but you missed my point entirely, it's not called "Soccer" by any of the governing bodies and not used by 99% of the fans... :)
FIFA =
The International Federation of Association Football (French: Fédération Internationale de Football Association), commonly known by the acronym FIFA (usual English pronunciation: /ˈfiːfə/), is the international governing body of association football,
The Laws of the Game were originally codified in England by the Football Association in 1863, and have changed significantly since that time. Association football is governed internationally by FIFA, which organises the FIFA World Cup every four years
-
I wonder why that Amiga game wasn't called Sensible Football.
-
but you missed my point entirely,
No, I was just pointing out that we American's always get blamed for creating and using the word soccer. The rest of the world think we are crazy. And it's wasn't even us! It's your bloody island sharing English cousins over there!
