A4000 CPU board replacement
« on: March 09, 2026, 05:45:45 PM »
Hello all
I had my A4000 wonderfully repaired by mr Giants who did incredible work.

But unfortunately, it turns out that my CPU board (040-25) is dead...
I was wondering if you could give me some advice about what I could replace it with ?
Speed is not really important, but cost is more.

I sadly understand that there is no pistorm option for the 4000. Could I expect it to happen in some time ?
Or are there other modern alternatives I could use ?
Or am I stuck to period hardware. 030 ? 040 ? 060 ? I'm not sure about what would be compatible without costing me a leg.
I did some google search, but i'm not sure about what I really need.

I would be very happy if you could give me some advice.
Thanks

Plenty of options now available.

You can actually buy a re-Amiga version of the 68040 CPU board or there is the Terriblefire (TF4060).
If you are looking for something similar to a PiStorm there is the Z3660 which can be used with either a 68060 CPU or with a Z-Turn FPGA board. This card features a lot extras. But as with anything new. Be prepared to be a BETA tester.

You can get a A3660 board with an 060 on it!  Or as mentined get one of the new 060 boards out now.  BFG9060, TF4060 or Warp 4060 board?  I have a A3660 and it runs well, overclocking it to 60MHz. You do have to run patched 3.1 ROMs or 3.1.4+.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?
