When I was in Jr High we had PET's, but in High School we had C64's and Apple II's.
If I had the chance to use the Apple II's I think I would have had a different experience and opinion. Crud, now I have buy one of those to see what it was like. I will probably get and emulator instead. I do not know if there is a good IIGS emulator out there. I did see one posted on OS4 Depot.

LMAO, when I was in Jr high I was in the MGM program and they sent me to the local college. They had an mainframe with punchcards. Heheheh

My computer in high school (1974) was an IBM 1130 with punch cards (no need to learn how to use a keyboard there) and a true "line-printer" which printed an entire line at a time.

No, I didn't even know Jeff Bridges back then!  He must have gone to another school near the water and boats.

There have got to be many thousands of Apple 2s still existing with proud owners who want to keep them running and even somewhat modern. By that estimation, there must be fewer but still a substantial number of IIc machines still clocking and prized by their owners.  And yet, it is difficult to find a modern storage solution for the IIc!  Casually browsing for the Timex/Sinclair 1000 the other night, there was an active community and modern hardware still developed with a SD card storage.  This is great, because the cassette tape method was completely frustrating and unreliable!

I imagined there would be HD solutions, SD card solutions, comparatively enormous ram expansions, etc AND a ROM update to seamlessly glue the new options together for a better system that retains backward compatibility.  IMHO, the IIc was one of the very first portable computers and had great build quality (I was smitten when it showed up in the movie "2010").  And yet, I can find very little available for it, nothing cleverly modern, and nothing that isn't rare and expensive.  Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?

Back in my high school days ('92 grad,) we had Macs, IBM PS/2s, a soon-to-be-retired lab room of Apple ][s (actually a neat ProDOS networked setup,) and two IBM System/34s.  The only IIgs I ever saw was a guy down the street had one.  It was cool, but the other guy down the street had an Amiga which I thought was way cooler. :)

I wish  new more about the IIgs. On ebay I see some new add-ons for apple II.
Maybe there is a hack for increasing the clock to 2 or 4 mhz.
SuperCPU runs circles around this machine.
