Just to clarify: I am not getting anything untill it is clear what I will get if I buy something.

Puts official hat on:

OK, Right now we still have some issues with one of the components and aren't making sufficient Pegasos boards to meet demand.  However this will be sorted out one way or the other shortly and we'll have the factory Churning them out.

With a nice new shiny Pegasos you'll get MorphOS and Debian Linux with MacOnLinux.

The aim is to ship MorphOS according to the Features list here:
http://www.blachford.info/morphos/morphos-full-features-list.txt

At the minute MorphOS is not feature complete so you'll get the latest version and will continue to get updates until the feature set has been completed.

--

Note: There will be an update to the Features list in the not too distant future.

Nicholas Blachford,
Speaking for Genesi.

I will probably buy the system which can run both MOS and AmigaOS 4.

@bbrw: any info if MOS 1.x is going to be released for BlizzardPPC? Is it?

MorphOS already runs on BlizzPPC (since public
beta 0.2/0.3 IIRC) so I see no reason why it shouldn't
be released for it :)

I know, haven't been eager to try the early version though.

I'm interested in every detail since I'm a Mediator user, and AFAIK, MOS supports only G-REXX and CGX systems, maybe AGA?

BTW: sorry for spelling "bbrv" wrong. :-(

According to swedish distrubitor GGS-data: "Moderkort + CPU-kort + MorphOS v1.0 CD + MorphOS T-shirt (så långt lagret räcker)."

In english "Mobo + CPU + MOS1.0 + T-Shirt". So it seems the peg is shipping with 1.0 then. Not BT2. But don't blame me if it isn't correct.

But i must say the current install guide confuses me: "In order to get the current MorphOSboot-CD-Image you should log in the provided Betatester II FTP Server and download the latest version."
That means you could be right about BT2...  :-(

Hi Bill,

As mentioned here and on ANN we already had MorphOS running on the basic version of the A1.

When (if ever) will A1 owners be able to buy a copy?

Cheers,

If MOS would be usable on A1 before OS4...now that would be some irony  :-D

Well, if it was already running on an A1, I don't see the problem in getting it out before OS4, which appears to be miles off.

@Wilse, I guess that none of us is a beta-tester so we can't know. Damn NDAs...

Very true.

My opinion or best guess, which I admit is based on nothing more than circumstancial and gut feeling, is that MorphOS won't be released for A1, not because it won't run but for a business reason of some sort.

I hope I'm wrong, and am open to correction, as it would make a great impact in time between most A1's arriving and OS4's 'release'. (As opposed to 'launch' :-P )

I guess it would be another PR victory for Genesi. (T-shirts given free vs AI couldn't send prepaid shirts, Genesi general support, AI's what?).

Personally I hope the best luck for both of them. I also hope that AI would add support, or maybe even Eyetech/Hyperion should come nearer to the community.

For example, free developer stuff for some software makers etc. Developer material in general (minus IDEs etc) should be free and available. Maybe even some contests could be arranged?

Hi!

We will post some ideas along these lines (Mr_Capehill) and answer some of the questions here (the whole thread) this weekend.

Best regards,
R&B :-)

When is the date for MorphOS for Apple computers?

I would be very willing to have a crack at running at beta.

What?!!? No  :flame: :-?

@BBRV appreciate the "official word".

@Ikar AOS4, MOS, who cares when it comes to plugging in a G3/G4 into an 1200? :-)  The whole concept is just too geeky to pass up on!  C'mon who doesn't want to say, "My computer is 10 years old and runs at ~500Mhz - 1Ghz!"  Reminds me of my favorite reply to anything said of old Amigas, "You're lying, you computer can't do that!"

Gosh.. The old days...  Remember when a PC couldn't print, be on a BBS, and unarchive a file at the same time?  Heck, my current 950Mhz PC still can't be on the internet and burn a CD at the same time :-(

Regards,
Targhan

- "we will sell MorphOS alone, but this will be a strategy primarily directed at Apple computer owners"
- Genesi does not sell HW for the classic Amigas
- it migh decrease pegasos sales
- it might divide R&D support efforts even further
- it lowers the lowest common nominator (or whatever), and it would make game developers work harder (see XBOX game deveopment vs harder PC game develoment)
