Amiga Hardware Issues and discussion / Re: Amiga 3000 fastram suddenly disappeared.

Yes, ziptest did the job perfectly - it showed a problem with U850 and U851 on Bank 0, and with U870 and U871 on Bank 2. I used contact cleaner and crimped the zip modules legs together so they griped the insides of the sockets rather than trying to push out into the pin-damaged sockets.

Banks 0 and 1 now work so I have 8MB. I think 870 and 871 require being replaced, sadly.

well, I think I know what the problem is.  I used the rom found in amiga forever (logica-dialoga) and noticed that the clock was bouncing all over the place.  So I removed the RTC chip.

So I ended up doing the following:
- replaced cpu socket
- replaced rom socket
- bypassed bad chip ram with 2mb agnus upgrade
- removed rtc chip

I'm going to also put a socket in for the RTC and try a different chip to see if that was the problem.

But I can now boot from floppy, so it's working.

Have never played with one, but maybe the card needs a firmware flash?

Don't even know if that's an option.

They might have different numbers but they'd still begin with F for fuse and connect to the same pins on the external floppy connector.

The show wasn't the same without you!

Could be fuses F3 and F4, going to pins 23 and 12 of the floppy port.

Without those, no power for motor (+12V on F3 and pin 23) or circuit inside the external drive (+5V on F4 pin 12) of the floppy port.

This is from a Rev 6 schematic though.

Thanks will test them out ...  Would that be the same for any Amiga too?

External floppy port does not work, A2000.  Anyone know what to check for?   Have tried both the A1010 and an A1011 as well as two 3rd party drives. None of them do anything.  So best guess is the port has a problem but not sure where or what to look for.. The odd thing is the boot menu and other tools show DF2 as there and available...

update: as per Elbox instructions tried removing all other Zorro cards and just having the FastaATA4000 and still nothing at all so it looks like some chip or whatever on board was bad right from factory.....sad because I waited so long for this card to get to me during these crazy pandemic times...must admit that Elbox support has been good though

If you have tested screen mode, you can just click save and reboot Amiga. If you haven't tested screen, you might end up to have screen wich is not displayable with your monitor.

If so, you need to boot early startup menu, choose boot without startup-sequence and then go to system:prefs/env/sys drawer and delete screenmode.prefs
