Never been a fan of VMware. I use VirtualBox and have never come across any issues.

As for updating systems.

Well I have not come across any issues as yet. Though upgrading Ubuntu 11.10 did give me some headaches but nothing critical or OS breaking.

Virtualbox is quite nice, and pretty easy to set up.

One should *never* upgrade an OS unless it's completely unavoidable. Always do a clean install.

One should not do a clean install of Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) because Apple made it horribly difficult and it wouldn´t change much. If you believe in clean installs: first make a clean install of Snow Leopard and then get the Lion roaring, or use Apples preferred method: get a new Mac.

Not true, everything you need for a clean Lion install is downloaded to you computer by the Apple store.

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.
