Those look like nice ones! A bit pricey though.
And probably a million times better than Skullcandy fashion statements. You can do much better than Skullcandy for the same price. No need to advertise that hipster stuff here.

@Thorham

Yea, that's the bizarreness of todays world I guess. Why are headphones fashion statements? I always thought you buy the one that sounds good and feels comfortable on your ears!

I HATE earphones, earbuds (who came up with that one anyway?)
Give me large high power speakers with huge sub woofers! Rattle the windows, and anything else that will move. Music must be LOUD! Games should be LOUD!

They could be loud on earphones too. On the other hand try to listen to some music, or play a game with it's music high at 4:00 am...

I have a pair of soundblaster tactic 3d's (the Alpha edition with THX TruStudio Pro) and they are incredible. The bass is thunderous and games like Space Marine are just incredible. They are really comfortable too.

Got mine in a sale for £45 a few years back. Now you can pick them up for £25.

I have a pair of Sony MDR-ZX300 headphones; not high-end audiophile gear, but quite reasonably priced, comfortable and fairly durable, and good volume and frequency response. (I like that they have decent bass without overloading it - a lot of consumer headphones seem to seriously amp up bass frequencies for some stupid reason. I used to have a pair where the bass utterly dominated everything, and I was amazed when I switched to these and realized how much I'd been missing on the other end of the spectrum.)

I'm not sure about the exact model number but i think i have those same Sony headphones. They cost me about $50. Not really impressed as i think they overcrank the bass.

Edit: these are the ones i have - MDR XD100

I actually prefer bud earphones to headphones. I'd choose the clarity of treble instead of overwhelming bass anyday.

For dj-ing, they're one of the best you can get. And with some discounts not too overpriced like the pioneer headphones.

Just isn't the same thing. I can usually get away with 4:00am music or games, too. I've got an in-law apartment that's away from the main house.
I do have pretty good ear phones - I just don't care for them.

Personally I recommend the Stax SR-009 electrostatic headphones.

Frequency Response: 5 - 42,000Hz
Sound Pressure Sensitivity: 101dB / 100V r.m.s. 1 kHz
Maximum Sound Pressure: 118dB / 400Hz

Can't argue with those figures. Since they are electrostatic and require quite high voltage bias (580V), you'll need to buy the special preamp.

The one thing that figures don't describe though is what the mid-range is like.

In my experience, speakers and headphones are often designed to be all bass and treble. For instance the worst offenders are the awful Creative Labs speakers. I've seen people say about how great they are but to me the tiny satellites+big sub sound awful because you end up with a bass that's completely unnatural and a high end that's unbalanced with the rest. The kind of music I listen to doesn't need stupidly heavy bass, it needs accurate sound reproduction right the way up the range (I listen to little music past the mid-80's, mostly 70's and before). That's why I use KEFs as my main speakers (Q35s and Cresta 2s).

There's only one thing you can be sure of with speakers of any kind - everybody has different tastes and figures will never mean anything as to whether they'll like the sound.

Probably still better than SkullCandy ones though. :)

I think you are right there. They are trendy and only bought because of the name and color.

I got mine for free from my mother, though I find they are not half bad either.

I tried some skullcandy headphones, but decided my cheap Sennheiser pair sounded rather better. I'd agree that they are more of a fashion thing, all the kids have 'em ;)

Possibly the most amazing headphones I have ever seen... Would love to try them out!
