Number 1 Lurker award!  I love it!  :).

Yes, I have been keeping an eye on the Amiga scene for a while... but the last time I became interested in buying one, you couldn't find anything.... the X1000's were drying up (and VERY, VERY expensive), and the AmigaOne 500 line and associated boards were not for sale.....

I think I will pull the trigger and buy one.  It seems like a ton of fun, a way to get back into retro computing without dealing with really old hardware (I have enough of that with my other Commodore machines), plus it seems like SOME modern abilities exist, like at least a decent browser, etc.

awesome! i really hope you get to enjoy it as much as i have enjoyed mine. there are piles of software available, from the older 68K titles to newer ones, including commercial software like the enhancer pack. you might find this old thread useful to get some ideas, too.

Thanks for the welcome and the information!  I am sure I will be asking lots of questions when I get my machine!

Thanks to everyone else who has posted as well!  I know I jumped on AmigaSociety's post.. :)

I am looking forward to using a real machine, and not relying on emulation!

I hope the rollout of the A1222 is smoother than this.  Amigakit and Acube haven't even listed the X5000 yet and GGS Data are the only European dealer that currently list them as being in stock although I believe some of the others had stock and sold it already.  I had hoped they were using the time during the delay of the OS4 port to build up inventory at the dealers so everyone could ship from day one.  I understand there are probably financial reasons such as dealer not wanting to tie up too much money in stock they had to delay the sale of, or Amigakit not wanting to give credit/too much credit.

Hopefully with the a1222 being a lower cost board/system the 2 problems mentioned above are less of an issue and when they are announced as being available to buy, they really will be available to buy from your preferred dealer.

Considering this is a new dealer its not a good start. If I were you and it hasnt shipped yet i wouldnt have them ship it during christmas rush :(

That's what made me hesitant to order it as soon as I saw it available on the AOTL. Delays.
