Your favourite game ever on any platform? ..
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:12:31 PM »
Hi Guys,

I have a long list of favourites going right back to when I bought my first computer after seeing somone playing Jetpac on a rubber keyed ZX Spectrum in the early 80's. I simply had to have it there and then and paid him whatever he wanted for it :)

My next computer/games console was bought after playing PGA Tour Golf with a friend on his Sega Megadrive. Again, I simply had to have it there and then and without checking first, paid him more than they cost in the shops at the time lol.

In the box of stuff was this game Whip Rush. Even with all my Amiga games like T-Zero and others, I have never enjoyed playing a game as much as Whip Rush......

I now play it using AmiGenerator on my A4000/PPC :)

What is your all time favourite game ever on any platform??

Over the course of about 29 years of gaming, that's a tough question to answer!

Not sure if it is my favourite of all time, but it's certainly a strong contender: Syndicate.

Have you tried the cinematic mod for HL2? It's pretty impressive :)

I guess my taste varies a lot

1. Unreal Tournament ('99, not 2003, 2004, etc) - PC
2. Turrican II - Amiga
3. M.U.L.E - C64

I have a lot of games that cycle through my "favorite" spot, but the more I play it, the more I fall in love with La-Mulana:

Look at that. Fate of Atlantis excepted, it's like the best Indiana Jones game ever made.

My choice probably shows my age, but on any platform it was ported to or on the original arcade machines I'm still fond of Galaga.

Karlos is right - over 30 years of gaming... picking only one is REAL tough. It would even be a stretch to pick just one across all the platforms we might be familiar with. Having said that, I guess I'd be inclined to pick something that's different almost every time you play it. Utopia for Intellivision for example is way up there as a fav as is INTV Baseball. Pinball Construction Set on C64. Dune II on Amiga. I'm also really partial to Super Street Fighter II Turbo and C.E. arcade or SNES. Yeah, not so sure I could ever pick just one without qualification and breaking it down by genre and platform   ;)
