Pretty cool! Did you use your SAM to make that?

Hey, how are those custom OS4 themes you claimed you were making a while back? I bet the people who donated the money to buy your SAM would like an update - you know, just so they don't feel like they got ripped off or something.

It is in the works. It took me long time to make SAM work and also set up OS4.1.
I wish I can do similar stuff on Amiga [ArtEffect is damn slow on larger images and I don`t know using Gimp in Emulator]... Still has some stuff to fix [my clock does not work well and I am learning how to reskin MUI with ease. OS4.1 is nice but needs lots of improvements.

@djnick

Just a question — why do you call it "HD" when it's a matter of still images and not video? "HD" and "Full HD" are relevant terms in video contexts, not still images, and when it comes to modern desktop monitor resolutions, 1920x1080 isn't really that "high" even...

Sure, "widescreen" is a more correct term, but since HD displays are generally (always?) widescreen resolution, it's pretty easy to understand what that means.

Since when is your monitor not a video display system?

There's a developer out there you might want to team up with named Belxjander. With you working on themes and him working on the code, who knows what you might not accomplish!

Worse than that is all those iOS developers calling the iPad versions of their applications "HD" when...

A. They are running at 1024x768 when the minimum horizontal resolution required for HD is 1280 pixels.

B. They are in a 80's style 4:3 aspect ratio when HD is 16:9 by definition.

Nor is blaming tools, documentation and other people for one's own inability to achieve something:

the inline assembly also needs to be made
useful as well instead of the possibly incorrect advice I have been given
and what is in the documentation actually being actively thrown out as
compiler errors... honestly.. What The F***!?!?!?

I hate to think the worst, but a review of the changesets in that repository reveal a lot of indecision about naming things, creation of empty functions and no real implementation work. Even the startup code just opens a few libraries then closes them again immediately. Yet most of the changes are annotated in a manner that makes them sound like lots of progress is being made. All of which stops just after the first hurdle, when it is discovered that gcc's asm() syntax is a bit tricky. Even then, a lot of the functions that he's using it for would be no less efficient in vanilla C; a function to write a byte to an address is not going to benefit from assembler optimisation (unless it is called from some other assembler routine where registers are mapped in a custom manner).

Begging everyone for money to buy an os4 machine and not delivering? Yeah that sounds pretty amiga like to me.

Kinda like pre-orders. hahaha

Maybe you should give everyone their money back?

Could you please show the post(s) where djnick initially "begged everyone" for an OS4 machine? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how to search for those posts, maybe someone else can help us locate that post.

He asked everyone to contribute to buying him an os4 machine so he could create graphics and themes and things for the os4 community.

Oh, damn.

I have done this "quick mockup work" "just for fun" - nothing serious. I used already created space from googling "space HD wallpapers", added boing, added smokes [from some animations], added dirt, light, text... and that was it. I even write clearly that I USED this wallpaper from some other place. Look more clearly on DeviantArt's description... And this ?Wallpaper for Fun" does not count for serious work. How it could be when it is done for fun and in 15 minutes!?

I don't know why people are getting so riled up over your pic.  It is kinda funny but cool.  Better than anything I could do to say the least.  Thanks for sharing!

"I don't know why people are getting so riled up over your pic. " -

People are getting worked up because this person grubbed a free os4 machine from the users in order to work on projects to benefit the amiga community.

So far this 3 minute cut and paste job, which was admittedly not even done on an amiga or amiga software is all he has delivered.

Anyone know when it was that people donated  to this joke? I seem to recall it was quite a long time ago. Someone does need to locate those posts of him grubbbing for money so he could do all these great projects for the amiga community.

In other news if anyone will buy me a morphos or amiga os4 machine  I'll
make 2 wallpapers. Thats right, and I will do it the same day I receive those computers. Thats DOUBLE the benefit to the morphos or os4 communities.

Thats right for a limited time, I'll offer DOUBLE the work this guy did to get his free os4 machine. DOUBLE Thats how I roll.

SOMEONE please locate the post where he grubbed his free os4 machine from people here.... Yes HE asked for that, not someone else.

Oh yeah I forgot that too...

I won't just copy and paste a boing ball, I'll render graphics I draw or model myself to create my 2 wallpapers.

Thats right 2 ORIGINAL wallpapers. No copy and paste over someone else's
work... ORIGINAL WORK Thats how I roll.

This tremendous amount of work is being offered for a limited time for just the cost of an os4 or morphos machine and shipping.

Think of the extreme benefits buying this machine for me will have for the os4 and morphos communities. Come on, donate.

In short: I am very busy man, really having not much free time to watch a movie, even spend talking bull**** here, I am working online for over 12 companies, working web sites, games, music, sound effects, videos... and I have very high experience in grapiX editing.

So be happy I spend that much time on AmigaOS drawing some free wallpapers.

As I promised, I will deliver improved skinsof AmigaOS, lots of gfx and skins for players, MUI, sound effects for loading AmigaOS sequence and other sh*t.

If I will be developer or in development team, I would know EXACTLY what priorities will be in OS4 development & make it attractive to outside world.

I am thankful for AmigaOS community to give me SAM460, but do not forget that I also invested 400 euros more [I didn`t have] and 6 months of free pieces of time, here and there and finally completed SAM system.

People around me laugh me for spending time and money for AmigaOS. But thats where I am crazy and I love that system. Okay, people say, let me show you some of latest youtube videos I've found today - sorry, impossible... no working Youtube player. Lets see some cool HD movie I just bring with me, lets play it on your new Amiga - not possible...

Everything that becomes somehow a standard today is still impossible and have to find its ways to avoid and play a video or audio... Damn lots of work, and world is moving very fast.

So ppl, stay calm, lets make AmigaOS a better place. I am sure there is not much people willing to help like me. Even I have lots of work, I will deliver what I promised for free.

period.

Okay, it mean spirited comments like this that drive people away.  Check out the original post and you'll see he was doing it for fun and wanted to share.  I'm sorry that you don't understand how ideas, concepts and situations can be turned on their heads when unknown situations and the like pop up.  apparently all of the projects you have ever started finished on time without any hiccups or delays.  You are a god among pitiful mortals and we tremble in your presence.

How 'bout this, oh great and powerful Oz, you can start posting like you are a grown up or you will find yourself banned for a week.  this goes for everyone else.  I'm getting really sick of getting onto this site, read a new post with something cool or new only to have the OP get ripped to shreds by people like you.

Curious about where he is? PM HIM!!!!  You MIGHT just find out that you know something that he doesn't and be able to HELP HIM instead of berate him!

Okay I stand corrected, someone else asked for the donations... but he did take the free machine...

I'll still do two wallpapers for a free machine. TWO.

Of course I've had many projects not finish on time, but not projects where I held a grubathon first for free equipment for those projects.

And I'm sorry, I didn't know I could be banned for having an opinion.

I also didn't realize you needed an os4 machine to cut and paste graphics. Sorry.

I'm allowed to think its funny that someone was given a free os4 machine to work on things and he's just pasting boing balls to existing wallpapers, just for
fun or not. You mods all need to relax and calm down.

You can't. You can be for how you go about expressing it though. Try to bear that in mind, umkay?

To me, the issue isn't that he spent 5 minutes making a wallpaper "for fun" is not an issue. What is a problem, however, is that he didn't accredit the original artist when he posted this, even if it was just a line to give the URL the original image came from. That's simply not cricket.
