Since your Amiga is plugged directly into the PC you must use a crossed ethernet cable, not a regular one.

Voila!  :-)

Is "Microsoft file and printer sharing" enabled on the PC?

Do you have more than 1 ethernet card in your pc?

Perhaps an onboard built-in one plus a PCI one?

Yes, "Microsoft file and printer sharing" is enabled.

There's only 1 ethernet card (onboard).

Are you running Samba on the Amiga?

Have you tried copying files to/from by using the PC?
(That is what I hafta do)

AmigaExplorer does not work with AmiTCP. Others had this problem, too.

But if you got AmiTCP configured, it should be very easy for you to configure Miami. It's much easier to navigate a self-explaining GUI than to answer the complicated questions of an installer which then creates broken scripts.

Bye,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The reason I've tried AmiTCP is that I can't seem to configure Miami with my MiamiInit on my Amiga (see my first post). It simply doesn't go any further after searching for the dhcp server. Maybe you can help me out?

How exactly are the Amiga and PC supposed to be communicating?

You said you are getting pings which means the hardware aspect is working.

There must some type of "filecopying over a network" software running.  Which for me means "Samba".

I simply click on "My network places" on the WindozeXP machine and there is my A1200T listed.  I can then right click on any file on the PC or Amiga and select "Copy" to copy it.

I don't see your problem. Each of these "searching for xy" windows has a "cancel" and a "skip" button. A click on the "skip" button let's you continue without finishing the search. Only if you click on "cancel" or if you let the search fail you are dropped back to the previous step.

Anyway you don't need MiamiInit. You can as well enter the values into Miami's GUI.

Bye,
Thomas

He wants to run AmigaExplorer. It works similar to "My Network Places" but is much faster and much easier to configure than Samba.

Anything is faster than Samba.  Linux slothware at is finest.

So what dir is this AmigaExplorer software supposed to live in?  It is not on my OS 3.9 A1200T.

But that's just the problem: when I press skip I can't continue (by pressing the continue butto he starts looking again for the dhcp server)

You'r absoluty right, I've just entered the values in Miami's GUI. Miami goes online and AExplorer opens with a tcp/ip connection, but I still get the same message. From the PC I can't ping the ip of the Amiga anymore.
