Title: A1200 Blizzard PPC help please :)
Post by: zx6r6 on March 06, 2007, 08:01:17 PM
Hi guys,

I've put my Blizzard 060/50 603 233mhz (i think) on ebay, I havent used my miggys in a looong time and want to test it before the auction ends. Just discovered my tower keyboard adapter is dead so am going to have to put it in one of my desktop 1200's.

Question is:-
1)will a 500 power supply be sufficient?
2)is it just a case of installing said libs and warpup?
3)whats the multiplier on ppc cards? I thought it was a 233mhz but its got a 64mhz crystal so got a feeling I could be wrong

Apologies if some of the questions seem a bit silly, I bought the card some time back, used it once then shelved my amiga :(

Thanks for any advice given

1. Maybe if nothing else except HDD is connected
2. Should be!
3. The 64MHz crystal is probably for the 060

Selling off a great card like that is going to make you regret.

1) No, in the most cases you need a stronger power supply. It's better when you power the A1200 motherboard with 5V directly from the power supply in the connector from the floppy drive on the mobo.
2)Yes, but don't forget the libs for the 060 CPU.
3)I don't know.

Thanks for the advice guys! Got it up and running and it tested ok.

Incidently, before the misses comandered the tv of me I plugged the 1200 into my Panasonic Plasma. Despite being in an interlaced mode there was no flicker what so ever! Hooray for inbuilt flicker fixers :)

LCD/Plasma TVs are very cool with an Amiga. God bless screens without refresh rates!
