Commodore Basic 8.0
« on: April 29, 2015, 10:47:04 PM »
Hello.
I am interested in Basic 8.0 for the C128.
How fast are the 3D primitives in Basic 8 when animated?
Can someone tell me where there are some good demos of Basic 8?
Thanks.

Think of something that's really slow and then half that speed again. ;)
The 8502 could be twice as fast as the C64 but the dedicated video chip was pretty crap for graphics especially sprites.  Trying to use the larger screen resolution modes slowed things down further. FAST mode is your best native bet. Plus machine code as the 128 had a MC Monitor built in.

Ahhh I loved my 128D.

Cool thanks.
I am looking to buy some hardware soon, not for sure how soon.
Maybe emulation will have to do for now. :)
Slow divided by 2 = 1/4 fast?

Faster with a SuperCPU 128.  ;)

Look among the B8 and IPaint files at

http://cbmfiles.com/genie/C128GraphicsListing.php

Check out file 14384 which converts Amiga graphics to B8.  And if you create any new B8 pics/demos, let us know!
