Title: DKB 1202 - What kind of memory?
Post by: BGoins12 on April 17, 2015, 03:08:30 PM
Thanks to a generous member of amiga.org, I now have a DKB 1202 card for my A1200. Problem is, I am not sure what kind of memory it takes. I know it takes 72-pin SIMMs, but does it take fast page or EDO? I tried a few that I have and all they did was cause the "defective" card list to pop up on boot... it works otherwise without the memory, so I assume I am using the wrong kind.

I also haven't been able to find a PDF of the manual anywhere. I understand most of the jumper settings, but not the "C" ones.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

According to the above, the card can only take 4MB SIMMs, so perhaps installing a SIMM with a larger capacity then 4MB is causing it to fault. What's this 'C' you are referring to? All I can see on the photo is J1-3 for memory config, and J4 which likely disables all memory on the card.

More info here too:

Yeah, I figured it could only take a 4MB module per socket. I managed to find 2 4MB fast page modules after digging in my closet. They both work, but I can only use one as they are double sided and the one won't snap into place because the rearmost SIMM socket is in the way. No big deal as 4MB of fast ram is plenty for me to finally play the games that tend to crash on the original 2MB.

As for the "C" settings, apparently my card is older or newer than the one in that picture, but mine shows a few of the jumper settings as "C" settings.
