Id imagine most people who have an inclination to do so would already have a Sam. Not sure that the announcement of x1000 will change much, especially in the world of amiga. People mostly know not to rely on announcements of upcoming products and will usually dive in if interested when any options are available. Obviously I have no way of knowing this for sure, but Id be surprised if there's much more of a market for new Sam boards than what is filled already.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

But then you have the group of people that were waiting to see if something better was in the works. We're still on the fence waiting to see what X1000 will cost, and whether that will drive Sam's prices down.

I Highly doubt it will drive the pricing down on a SAM440 more then 10%.  I don't think there is that much fat for them to cut and remain profitable to continue in the Amiga market.  Time will tell, but I can only guess that the X1000 announcement has damaged their sales.

A better question is, was the SAM400 selling before? Most OS4 hardware dealers are opaque about sales, but we do have full insight into one:
http://stores.ebay.com/TryTerra-Computers

This is one of the international dealers listed on ACube's reseller page. On this page you'll find two SAM listings, 2 Flex and 2 EP. If you look at the revision history for each of those listings you'll see they've been up for months and haven't sold, they just keep getting re-listed.

SAM440 probably reached market saturation very shortly after 4.1 was released.

We have the same monthly rate of sales of SAM Flex systems as we have had for the last year so there are still customers eager to try out AmigaOS 4.1 especially after the hard work that went into the recent update.

The forthcoming AmigaOne X1000 is aimed at a higher price-position to the SAM Flex so that they will co-exist in the next generation Amiga marketplace.  The SAM Flex price will be unaffected by this new product.  For us, there is not sufficient margin to reduce the SAM Flex pricepoint any further without some major movement in currency markets.

well I bought my Samflex@800 this past summer before the X1000 announcement and I'm very happy with it especially after the major update release; however, I would think potential Sam owners now are waiting to hear the official price announcement and availability of the X1000 ...A-Eon and Hyperion have stated time and time again that the X1000 will be 'high end' and thus will keep ACube sales going I assume.

Well we have no idea when X1000 will actually come out.  Maybe this summer...but who knows.  So if you are "waiting" ...it's possible you may have a long wait.

Even if it does come out, it could be in a beta form.  Look how long SAM was in beta...(software wise)
