Interesting article, but its what we alredy knew isn't it?

That we (the English) are a Germanic people (with a Germanic language), whilst the Cornish, Welsh and Scots (and Irish) are Celtic peoples with Gaelic languages.

I don't however think that this has much bearing these days though. Divides between the English and Scots may be cultural,  or (recent) historic, but not really inherently due to ethnicity...

I'm always saying that (about the language) and everyone thinks I'm off my rocker.

Yea,
not much bearing these day...and interesting from the historical perspective, i agree.

Although, i wouldn`t want to lose that sense of being culturally `unique` (rather than `divided)...

It just give meaning to our time and place.

How odd. Your picture on facesofamigaorg doesn't look much like a gargantuan, all-invaginating, nepalese frog :-?

well, all this is WAY old news to me. but then my mother has always reminded me of my celtic background (Belgians were named after one of the old celtic tribes - "Belgae")
http://www.visitbelgium.com/bxhis01.htm

and, of course my friends who are Scottish and who Contantly remind me how they are NOT English.  the languages are different:
Galic

I forget how to spell it..."sacinoch", i believe means someone from the south (England) and is generally considered a bit of an insult.
you know...Those People....ugh!

it sure never struck me that there was much similarity - culturally - between the English and the Scots.

but as I'm neither, i just sit back and watch the fireworks!

How can the "odd ones out" constitute the majority of the population of the two islands, and probably outnumber the populations of the other countries put together... :-)
