PCs: More than 1 billion served
« on: July 01, 2002, 11:31:51 PM »
Approximately 1 billion PCs have been shipped worldwide since the mid-'70s, according to a study. Expect the next billion by 2008.

There is a very small mention of Commodore in this.

For more information, read the story at the following URL - http://news.com.com/2100-1040-940713.html?tag=fd_top

Yeah, but how many still work?

Seriously, a PC without Air-conditioning will
last only 2 years on these islands if your
within 2 miles of the ocean.  My A2000 30/50
is already 12 years old.  I wish I could think
of a way to filter the salt out of the air that gets
sucked into the boxes and corrodes/rusts the
parts   :-?

Hum, ever try using some kinda charcoal filters???
Or maybe (yes it sounds a bit dodgy, but...) paper coffee filters?
Or the ultimate solution is getting an air ioniser it will destroy all
the bad elements in the air -thus making it safer for your Ammy, and
healthier for you too!

It's all depend on Brand, and quality of components.
My IBM PS/2 95 still run smoothly for 10 years without any problems. If you buy cheap Taiwan / China /HK PC, it will break down in 3 - 6 months!

Make sure the PC have adequate cooling. Leave several AT/PCI slot cover open.  Installing additional fans and an external desk fan next to the computer is suitable for Tropical  weather ./ Middle East. area  :)

I have idea about replacing old motherboard in old PC AT cases with new Amiga One motherboard, unfortunately Amiga One does not support AT format.
Amiga One will be a great upgrade for old PC. :)
