This is the final proof the the Parachutter-GFX-card really is
an Amiga-related product  :-D  :-P

BtW: Anybody who spends €435 on a GFX-Card is nuts ->
more proof it's Amiga-related  :-x  :-x
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Some preliminary impressions of the card:

$399 is the going rate for the top end graphics card on the market it appears, and this card is no exception. Cheaper versions will come with time.

LOL you are funny Kronos!!! Havn't you ever seen the prices of a NVIDIA Geforce card when it is first released? It is always MUCH higher than 435euro.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Naah. I bought my 64MB GeForce2 GTS card when they were new to the market, and it cost me a bomb. When top of the range newest technology cards come out, they are always ridiculously expensive.

OTOH, anyone thinking about pre-ordering at these prices needs his head examining. There is still no indication how long it will be before AOS4 comes out, and even on Linux, PPC XFree86 drivers for these cards will probably take a while to be released and mature. By then, the price is likely to drop a bit, so I advise everyone to wait until it makes more sense to buy them.

Don't be taken in by pre-ordering scams!

The spec's call for AGP 2.0 minimum.

Since A1 is AGP 1.0 (I believe??), will this card even work in A1????

Sometimes it seems to be unbelieveable difficult to educate people...

Loki, you better read this:
AmigaOneG3-SE http://www.eyetech.co.uk/amigaone/information.php

And for the AmigaOne-XE http://www.eyetech.co.uk/amigaone/300502update.php

The question no one seems to want to answer is "what are the implications of having one PCI slot on the same bus as the AGP slot?". Can the AGP slot be used in x 2 mode with a PCI card installed and working in the PCI slot?

Every time questions like this come up Eyetech's response seems to be hostile and defensive, and rarely elucidating. Then again, maybe they just have an aversion to my name, so has anyone else got a specific and detailed answer to the above questions?

@bhoggett,
dont quote me, but this is how i read it:
you can use a PCI card in the slot near the AGP slot and use an AGP card at the same time, but whether you'll get AGP 2x performance out of the graphics card is another matter, depending on the bandwidth - since they are on the same Bus.
so I imagine that a SCSI3 card with 10 devices on in that PCI slot will seriously impinge on the AGP's available bandwidth, hurting performance.
my advice if (and only If ! ;-) )i am right, is to use a low demand PCI card there if you must.

does that make sense?

Hey!!! - Thats only about 800+ Aussie dollars!

I know someone who payed well over $1000 for a GeForce3!

$800 dollars seems like a bargan compared to other cards with their debute prices. This card also seems to do a lot more too!

@ D@n:
Well, Fleecy posted on Ann when the card was announced, and I think he made it clear Matrox is an AInc partner. How they are patners is another matter, wich I don't know:)
