Delfina Flipper: Technical changes
« on: May 04, 2002, 04:15:19 PM »
The preparations for the soundcard "Delfina Flipper Edition" have reached the last phase before production. Some technical details had to be changed in order to keep the announced price.

Here are the most important changes:

A cable for connection to the A1200 clockport will not be included. A connection kit will be available separately for 10,- EUR. To use the Midi-ports, a separate cable is necessary. It's a standard Midi cable that is also used by PC soundcards, and it will not be included with the Delfina Flipper. It can be ordered separately for 9,- EUR.

Pre-orders for the Delfina are taken by eMail or by fax.

i have a Delfina Lite..

And it has a tendency to freeze the machine when hardware decoding mp3's  :(

It is a hardware problem i think (something wrong with Delfina itself).

I hape Delfina Flipper has an improved DSP.. Distortion sound i get with my guitar is not very good..

And also i have to hit hard on the strings to get anysound at all..

You're using newer beta libraries, right? They seem to freeze the
machine sooner or later if you play mp3s with Lite. There's patched
delfina.library by Smack, which fixes the problem. Other option is to
use older 4.14 version of the library and then you'll get fake crash
requester, but not hang ups.. just ignore the requester :) But the old
version has an "ahi-bug" too, which shows up after using dsp. Other
Delfinas than Lite don't have the problem with new libraries IIRC.

I don't know if it's in web, but ask from Smack with e-mail. Address
can be found for example from dmdev.lha in aminet...

Hey, the  people who  make Delfina (and other Amiga audio cards) should take a look at the Alesis SemiConductor website

Quote
From their website:

Consuming only 170mW of power, the AL1201 24-bit stereo DAC features a 128x oversampling delta-sigma converter providing a dynamic range of 107dB (A-wt). The AL1201 also includes an internal PLL to generate all needed clocks from wordclock, a wide sampling range of 24KHz - 55KHz, a THD of (less  than) 0.003% and selectable serial bit rates of 32 or 24 bits/channel with selectable de-emphasis.

Samples are available now. Pricing is $1.80 in 10K quantities. Please contact Alesis Semiconductor for other volume pricing and lead times.

The Delfina card is only 16-bit, right?
