« on: March 22, 2002, 10:41:19 PM »
The MPC7455 and MPC7445 host processors are high-performance, low-power 32-bit implementations of the PowerPC RISC architecture with a full 128-bit implementation of Motorola’s AltiVec technology.

Delivering a high level of performance with efficient power consumption across virtually all speeds, these innovative processors provide networking and computing product OEMs with a best-in-class solution for a wide range of host processor applications—including high performance network infrastructure and telecommunications equipment, computing products and embedded systems.

What can I say, but this is the bleading edge for PowerPC. But you know I can get some info on PowerPC Beta processors.

This is actually a stupid posting, since the page
to which this "news" refers to says the 7445 maxes
out at 800MHz.

Dunno.  It's not posted on the site, now is it.  Chances are, even if it were, it would be in lots of 1000 for manufacturing only anyway.

Dunno.  When can you expect to see any product by any manufacturer of Amiga goods and services?  If they would design it right in the first place (socketed and all), it shouldn't be an issue as you should be able to buy one, plug it in and go.  This is where I think every one of the upcoming Amiga solutions fails.

If you don't appreciate the efforts of others to bring you a free service, then get off your ass and post some "actual news", otherwise, quitcherbitchen.

You may want to take a look at

Right. And here the Pegasos may have an advantage
over the current AmigaOne.

Hehe. Still this "news" is two months old, and none
of the Amiga.org rednecks have heard of it, yet? :-p

"Pricing and Availability
The MPC7455 is shipping today, and the MPC7445 is currently sampling. Suggested retail pricing for the MPC7445 at 800 MHz is $125 in 10k quantities. Suggested retail pricing for the MPC7455 at 1 GHz is $295 in 10k quantities."
------------------------------------------------------------

Where do CPU companies get these numbers for their press releases? The "Sugegsted retail" price for enormous bulk orders are ALWAYS soo much higher than what the end user can buy one for just a few weeks after the press release! At least this is true for X86 processors. If AMD announces a new CPU with a suggested retail of $380 in bulk of 10k chips, I can probably buy one 2 weeks later for $220.

Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!
