Title: A3000 floppy disk eject button
Post by: amiman99 on August 02, 2017, 04:00:02 AM
In my spare time and a caliper I have made a floppy disk eject button for Amiga 3000. This eject button is a perfect replacement for your A3000.
I give this free to the Amiga community.

See pictures below.

I have included a STL file for you to print in the 3D Printer.

Let me know if you have printed one.

I think that is great! Awesome job! I've seen many posts on here from people looking for parts and pieces to make their Amiga complete. Hopefully, 3D printing will help more people with those parts. Congrats!

Nice!  Green?  Now to start printing entire A3000 cases in green.  Would sure solve the yellowing problem!

I think the 3D printer revolution IS solving many spare parts shortage problem.
In my case, I have designed and printed replacement eject button for my A1000, I have a non original floppy drive in it, so the original button would not fit.
Printed a case for Vectrex multicart, design and print small enclosure for PS2Mouse-Amiga adapter.
And now the A3000 eject button, I remember I sold my other A3000 w/o the button, because I did not have a replacement.

So...the site list it at 87.42, when you try to purchase it, you are charge almost 40 more...

I am rapidly losing patience with everything related to legacy.

What site is that?  You can buy your own printer for under $200 bucks and make  all your parts yourself.  Here's a quick link to one I was looking at  just earlier today:

Not sure what that has to do with this thread, but I'll be glad to take your systems off your hands if you don't want 'em anymore.

This is the printer I have: Anet A8 from Gearbest for about $170.
http://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_343643.html

You have to assemble it yourself and it will take you 2 evenings to do it. Very good printer.
If you are novice and can't be bothered assembly then this one gets high marks: Monoprice Select for $220
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Select-Printer-Heated-Filament/dp/B01FL49VZE/ref=sr_1_3?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1501717491&sr=1-3&keywords=3d+printer
It's a smaller build plate then the Anet A8.

Just installed this eject button in my A3000 after a bit of fiddling.

It went pretty well, except I had a few misfires trying to print and had to add some supports so that it wouldn't peel up (even off the heated bed) during printing.

Needed to do some filing in order to fit it through the slot on the floppy drive's pushbar. The first time I put the shield back on the drive, I accidentally tried to put the back hook on top of the shield's "hump" instead of under it. That meant the drive rode up in the case and wasn't accessible from the front, and it was really annoying to screw together. Much easier when you actually do what they intended!

Works very well. I had to de-rust and lube up the springs since my A3000 has sat in an attic for the last twenty years before the eject mechanism would actually eject a disk, but once that was done, everything works well.

Thanks a lot for making this available to the community!

Looks good. I'm glad you like it and it fits.
For best results when printing small parts is to use BRIM 5-8mm wide.
