In anticipation of the 2nd anniversary of the release of MorphOS 2.0 later this month, you are now able to purchase a MorphOS keyfile at the special celebratory price of 111,11 EUR (including. 19% VAT), the same price that was available to the very first buyers of version 2 of MorphOS during our introductory phase in 2008.

Where do I buy?

Yes and how long will this deal go on?

Great news! :)
I'll finally register MorphOS for my Mac Mini now!
:D

Where do I buy?
You boot MorphOS, connect to the Internet, and use the registration tool in MorphOS.
:)

Follow the directions from their website to install the Demo version of MorphOS2.5 on the compatible hardware that you own and then, while running MorphOS2.5, follow the directions on how to register using the register tool. It will ask you to send an email, you will receive an email in return that shows you how to pay and after payment has been confirmed you will receive another email with the keyfile attached.
I might have messed up one step or another, but that is what I remember from registering a couple years ago when version 2.0 first came out.
There is no telling how long this reduced price will last, so I suggest that everyone that wants a license for MorphOS gets it now. I missed out on the reduced price when it first came out because I did not get my compatible hardware set up in time.

I just hope the window is open long enough to grab an eMac off Ebay and have it shipped. :)

It should be, but you might want to pay a little extra for faster shipping if it isn't too much more.

I would have loved to take opportunity and get this discounted offer, but as a Powermac owner and future Morphos user I cannot, because Morphos release for my machine has been delayed (to add insult to injury).
Nice going.

I wonder why I can't just contact them with Credit Card or Paypal info. Bah! :/

Well... at least this way they wont be able to take your money until you actually have it working on your system :)

Come on m8, using regtool couldn't be any easier...
-
I mean it would be nice for those of us caught off guard without the hardware to take advantage of the special offer.
I'm sure the registration tool is great.

Maybe the MorphOS team should consider selling "gift vouchers"? Like, you pay now, get some kind of receipt, which could in the future be traded in for a license?
It would be a win-win situation. Just a thought...
(Edit: Just corrected erroneous spelling of a word that put a different meaning to the sentence)

Hehe, yeah, but with the difference that the MorphOS team actually have a product to trade it in for!
:)

Because the registering involves sending hardwere info (mac-address) which the license will be locked to. The regtool does this automatically, users doing it manually would quite likely result in lots of errors.
-
This is totally awesome news. I plan on buying my keyfile when I get home tonight. Makes me happy I had put it off for a bit.
-
Nice job on MorphOS 2.5, MorphOS Team! I just bought a keyfile for it.

Ya, I'd be down with that for sure!

If you ever wanted Morphos nows the time!
Posted from my newly registered mac mini.

As would I. Just not sure which platform I'll end up with and that's the main objection I have right now.
-edit-
@XDelusion: Yeah, wish I would have kept my eMac now. She was mint too. Looks like the MacMini is really the way to go, but I have a B/W G3 Powermac w/ the 1.1GHZ upgrade (that I could throw a 400mhz G4 into if I wanted) and access to all sorts of other olden PowerMac G4's, including that cute little MacCube deal. lol She's a lowly 400mhz too, but for what you can get 'em for. Same with those sexy iMac G4's. Those went up to 1.5Ghz IIRC. Now that would be the makes for a cool MorphOS computer :)

Well if you can't transfer your license from one Mac to another, then I'd say stray way from the eMac as that monitor will not live forever, thus making support for it less appealing after all. :/
-
Very offputtuing. I'd seriously consider MOS but not if its locked to one piece of old and potentially short lifespan kit.
If I buy Windows I am now tied to one PC with no option to use my Windows licence on another machine!
Sort it out MOS guys!! :(

Of course you can transfer your license if your machine dies! It's a known fact.
-

That is only true with OEM licenses and upgrades.
-
Tempting but man, it's still pricey for a hobbyist OS. :/

Well if im not wrong you need to reset your key before reinstalling Windows else it fails WGA check if im not wrong, but since I havent used windows for quite some time im not sure, but I think a friend reinstalled windows and had to call MS to reser his license key.

Well it has been stated that if a computer dies, they will allow a transfer to another system. This is done by direct contact for proof of computer death, but it is done.
I'd trust this to be true. My biggest fear is the MorphOS team "pulling a Holger Cruse" one day and then having the computer fail. There is no indication at this time they would ever do such a thing.
-
There's not just one person in MorphOS team, and it's not a company subject to bankruptcy either. So a collective Holger Kruse effect is rather unlikely... IMO, there would always be someone able to build some keyfile-free version, if the project was abandoned (unless a meteor hits earth or so :)).

That part is correct in a lot of cases, you will have to reactivate your installation key with Microsoft. They allow you to move a retail key*, but not OEM or upgrades which are locked to the hardware and the original license, respectively.
* I think, now, that they only allow two or three moves within a certain time period.

"3xA1000, 4xA500, 1xA600, 1xA2000, 1xA2000HD, 2xA2500, 3xA3000, 1xA3000T, 1xA3500, 1xA4000, 1xA4000T, 1xCDTV, 1xA1200" those were that cheap? ;)
-
How long will this last? I want to buy it, the problem is that I have to wait about 1 or 2 weeks because then I get back 3500$ on my taxes, then ill get a eMac asap.
What is the price after this special offer?
-
I am going to break down and take the plunge! I will sell my 1200 to cover the costs. :)
-
How long will this last?
I have no idea, but if they are replicating the MorphOS 2.0 introduction offer (they now have the same price as then as an anniversary celebration after all), they will return to normal prices at 15th of July. But don't take my word for it, it's just a thought. MorphOS 2.0 was released on 30th of June BTW, which could be another date to consider? But again, just pure speculations...

Then maybe you should consider a Mac Mini "silent upgrade" 1.5GHz? ;)
BTW, "Skatteverket" will be paying out the first 21 billion SEK in tax returns tomorrow, so money should get here next week! :)
What is the price after this special offer?
Well at least *it was* 150 EUR, so if they aren't doing any changes, I guess it will return to that?
