Time to dump that stock and move on. The ship is sinking.

I was just checking out Acube's site and was thinking the same thing. I have supported them in the past with my wallet, but I just could not invest in the SAM based on the pricing points they were demanding for both EP & Flex.

@ koafder
nah..the ship is stable and fine...the X1000 sales will affect the Sam sales initially but the Sam running OS4.1u1 is a great system for the average user without spedning the extra money for the X1000

klx300r, you're no Steve Jobs.

haha ..tone..i'll take that as a compliment sir...after all I'm an Amiga and not a Mac ! :-)....I'm just a classic and OS4.1 user stating my personal experiences and I'm an engineer by profession unlike Jobs whose a marketing man
-
I guess one way of looking at it is if the X1000 results in some cheaper SAM's for a 'period of time', then all is good in the world :)
Hell if they drop another 100 EUR I might even pick one up myself ;)
-
Yeah, Steve Jobs, if he were ever in this situation would be selling iLifeboats and tell you how wonderful they are compared to the sinking ship and how from the day they made the ship what they really had in mind were these lifeboats and we're all real fortunate now to be able to actually use them.....

Tone, tone, tone. Be nice, tsk tsk.:hammer:

ACube said they would go to another system later in the year IF they have enough SAM440 sales. How many of those looking today to get a SAM440 can afford both X1000 and a new SAM440 plus a new system from ACube later on in the year? In this world economy of horror, I don't see too many people being able to afford to buy two systems this year, let alone three systems. That means they will have to choose between SAM440 now, wait till the X1000 hits in June ("Before Summer"), or wait to see what the end of the year, if anything, brings as far as a new system from ACube. Two of the three of the choices will not work for ACube.

Just get a Powermac G4 and MOS, I just picked up 5 1.25GHZ MDD systems from a school auction for $125, not each for ALL 5.

Excellent deal, especially since Amigakit dropped the Sam.
Save a pile of money, grab a mac mini and MOS. MOS devs don't tell users they can all go and catch fire as well.

@koaftder
Hmm, but some of them might *think* something like this - but won't tell... ;-)
[BTW: You are qualified for the 97, I suppose. :-) ]

Amigakit recently sold out of Samflex boards so they temporarily took them off the web page but that does not mean they 'dropped' the Sam ??? where are you getting this info from anyway?

What they haven't mentioned if they will be reordering the SAM440 or not. They did say if they had enough SAM440 units sold, they would be introducing a new machine at the end of the year.

I think I'll watch this with interest... ain't holdin' my breath though. :)

well i ask simple things and always get bull off everyone 1 day somone might be of help,i live in england and i want to buy 1 from here.
and yes i see the reply out of stock but i dont hear ohh yes webhead will have another delivery buy so and so do i know.
its not an over reaction because it seems others are not listing or havent got any either so you have shut yourself up by having a go at me havent you .
so my original part of questioning then is when will they get some and my email was last monday this monday coming that makes a week ohh i can add up.
Stock is drying up and there is no news of new stock. New boards, probably not going to happen. There is no money in that game.

@ koaftder
just keep reading that same thread and you'll see that other resellers and even ACube itself has Samflexs in stock but the OP only wants to order from Amigakit as they are close to him??

I don't know what his deal is, it's kind of rambling. Maybe he's not a native english speaker? Anyway, perhaps he just doesn't want to do business with any amiga seller than Amigakit, it's hard to beat their reputation. I'm wondering if more boards are going to roll out. A-Eon steam rolling the hype machine has got to be hurting their sales while folks wait for months sitting on the fence to see how this plays out. In my opinion this is screwed up and totally unfair to ACube. I wouldn't be supprised at all if they just pull out and focus on other embedded endeavors. Their EyeMotion product looks pretty nice for folks doing embedded stuff with ARM and need a display solution.

It would be pretty funny if ACube started to handle the EFIKA-MX series with an optional AROS installed.
-
@ dammy
why? AROS development has been rocking lately and I would love
to see ACube support it!...I also have a good feeling that the empty
FFPGA slot on the Samflex boards will be put to good use soon...

What is better in the computing world (for the Amiga name especialy) - A larger range of companies each producing hardware that can run Amiga OS (like the Windows PC model) or one company (the Apple model)?
Competiton between vendors can drive prices down, but it will also divide the market share, making it less attractive to new entrants.
Perhaps somewhere in the middle (also akin to the PC model in some areas) where a small number of companies produce hardware or a spec which is then licensed and built (and tweaked) by others - this is what happens with PC motherboard and component chipsets.

This thing would makes sense at the $250-$350 price range for a fully configured system with small amount of ram and hard drive.
Heck put linux on it and sell to that community. Have a coding contest for the onboard FPGA...Free trip to Italy I dunno...

nah it would make sense to just buy a netbook and run Windows 7 and stop visiting Amiga sites but hey...we're Amigans:laughing:
