Title: Mediator PCI 3/4000T Comeback
Post by: DJS on March 11, 2004, 12:49:35 PM
Elbox Computer is pleased to announce that the five-slot MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T busboards are again available in the Elbox Online Store.

Elbox Online Store (http://www.buy.elbox.com/cgibin/shop?info=207M34T).

MEDIATOR PCI busboards for Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000 computers are the most advanced and best supported PCI solutions for Zorro III equipped Amigas.

Thanks to the comprehensive software support, five different kinds of the PCI cards can be used simultanously in Mediator PCI 3/4000T. It makes Mediator PCI 3/4000T the most cost-effective PCI solution for Amiga 3000 and Amiga 4000 computers available on the market. Per one usable PCI slot, it is more than 40% cheaper(!) than the competitive PCI solutions for A3000T and A4000T computers.

Order MEDIATOR 3/4000T before 21 March and take an opportunity of our Winter Promotion (http://buy.elbox.com/cgibin/shop?show=9SP)!

About the MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T busboard:

MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T consists of two boards: i) the Elbox 3/4000T busboard with five PCI slots, and ii) the MEDIATOR PCI 4000 core logic card.

MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T is designed to perfectly fit in the original Amiga 4000T and Amiga 3000T computers. MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T fits also in other Amiga computers with Zorro III slots. For example: if your Amiga 3000D or Amiga 4000D is built in Micronik Tower with the Micronik Zorro III busboard, or if your Amiga 4000D is towerised in Power Tower with the Elbox Zorro III/ISA 4000 busboard, you can install the MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T busboard.

You can install the MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T busboard also in Amiga 3000 or Amiga 4000 desktop computers, but you must leave the computer case open. For this reason, in A3000D and A4000D we recommend rather installing busboards, which are designed specifically for these computers: i) Mediator PCI 4000Di (http://www.elbox.com/products/mediator_pci_4000di.html)--for a standard Amiga 4000D, ii) Mediator PCI 4000D (http://www.elbox.com/products/mediator_pci_4000d.html)--for a towerised Amiga 4000D, and iii) Mediator PCI 3000D (http://www.elbox.com/products/mediator_pci_3000d.html)--for a towerised Amiga 3000D.

Together with PCI cards installed in MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T, you can still use your Zorro cards. MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T and PCI cards installed in it do not collide with Zorro II/III cards installed in Zorro slots. Half-length Zorro cards you can fit directly in Zorro slots. To install more than one full-length Zorro card you must install these cards through a ZIII riser, which is available in our online store.

See the photo (http://www.elbox.com/manuals/mediator_pci_4000t_folder/mediator_pci_4000t_qig-f8.html) of Amiga 4000T with the installed MEDIATOR 3/4000T busboard.

Together with the MEDIATOR 3/4000T busboard is included the Mediator Multimedia CD with drivers for: i) Graphic cards (S3 Virge, S3 Virge DX, Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo3, Voodoo4, Voodoo5), ii) Ethernet 10Mbps cards (based on RTL8029 chipset), iii) Fast Ethernet 100 Mbps cards (based on RTL8139 chipset), iv) Sound cards (Sound Blaster 4.1 Digital, Sound Blaster 128 and card based on the ForteMedia FM801 chipset--e.g. Terratec 512i Digital), v) TV tuner cards (106 models). Warp3D driver system for Voodoo3, Voodoo4, Voodoo5 graphic cards is also included.

USB is supported in MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T too. High-Speed USB 2.0 (EHCI) and USB 1.1 (OHCI) drivers are included in the Spider II High-Speed USB 2.0 controller package.

Software for the MPEG-2 Video and Audio hardware decoder is in the final developement stage.

At present, there are 213 different PCI card models supported in MEDIATOR! For the complete list of the supported cards see: the Mediator Driver Guide (http://www.elbox.com/mdg.html). For more info about MEDIATOR PCI 3/4000T see: the product page (http://www.elbox.com/products/mediator_pci_3_4000t.html).

well, good to see competition in the Amiga market.

I had a mediator at one time...though I don't own an amiga anymore.  I never liked that you have to go through their support department to get updated drivers, instead of just downloading them from the internet in real time.

It's just a level of service that you get in the PC world, that people have come to expect.  That's not to say that their support department didn't get me the updated drivers in a day or two...they did.  It's just that why can't you get them that night, you are working on the thing, instead of waiting a day or two.  Why oh why, they are in the hardware business anyway.

That's why I would still take a hard look at the prometheous.

I do like the very professional website and snazzy ordering system (along with large product range) of elbox too.
