im talking under **extreme** loads.

here is my deaktop config:

PICO 120W
A1200 desktop PPC 268Mhz with Bvision,128Mb ram,
indivision ( runs on seperate 3.3v from PSU )
elbox eide mkIII.

Well PICO 120W shouldn't even be able to handle MAX currents that your system draws from 5VDC.

well the PICO 120W outputs 7a max on the 5v rail same as pico 200.

on my old project a pico 120w powered the same config but had 256Mb of ram, floppy drive added but a fan was needed to keep the pico cool. this project had no problem whatsoever. if i remember the PICO's do have **overload protection**  correct me if im wrong

PICO PSU will normaly fit in a case where a fan may be present ( fan depending on computer system  ) the case fan will keep all componets cool including the PICO PSU.
i do remember reading somewhere that when the PICO reachs near it peak output its best to fit a fan.

a fan is not always needed it down to the load on the PSU,on the amiga pay attension to the 5v rail. in a standard A1200 with a expansion card this may be fine, but as you put more load on ie gfx card, sound card whatever you are going to need a fan,as when the PICO gets to hot it may give-out spikes on the  5v rail which locks-up the whole system, this is why i added a fan on my old project to fix the problem.

Oh yeah, I remebered that PicoPSU 120 had 5VDC rating at 4A, but now reading at the manual it says 5VDC max load 6A  peak load 8A where as the PW200M has the same max load of 6A, but peak load is at 10A. So not much difference in there.

What jumer are you talking about?

Have you tired other 12V connections from the ATX PSU side, there are plenty of 12V outlets.

Yes, I tryed all the 12v points.
Jumper: well, the power on :P

Please dont tell me that you are connecting a jumper to the pins sticking out of the PCB at 90 degrees? If so that my friend is a 5VDC outlet and you are short circuiting it to the ground! PS On Switch on my picture means that red switch that I have drawn.

It really sounds like your system is drawing too much power from the PSU which is odd. What type of 12VDC PSU do you use to power PW200M?

i also like to add that if you are going to add a PICO PSU it may be a good idea to go for a wide voltage input as this make the A1200 more flexable,ie you can move A1200 to another location without bringing a 12v PSU,just use a laptop PSU or a heavy duty battery.

and don't forget to add a internal switch for NTSC or PAL.

now you amiga can work almost anywhere, all you need now is a LCD screen.( portable amiga )
