Thought this may come in useful for others. Especially as I’ve had a right time getting one of these working by piecing together Jigsaw Pieces…

This is a basic guide. Please feel free to add to this if I have missed anything!

Hardware required:

- Firebird/Prometheus Daughterboard
- RTG PCI graphics card (Currently Voodoo3 and Permedia 2 cards appear to be compatible)
- Further hardware that can be used are PCI Network (8029 or 8139 RTL Chipset) 10/100Mb
- 4 Port USB PCI card (NEC Chipset)

Software Required:

- Thors MMULibs Link: https://aminet.net/package/util/libs/MMULib
- Prometheus Libraries and Drivers (Prmlibs.lha) Link: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=76633&highlight=Prometheus
- OpenPCI Libraries and Drivers (Network Card - openpci-rtl8139) Link: http://bvernoux.free.fr/DevPCI.php#drivers
- picasso96 (P96) Link (Free old version): https://aminet.net/package/driver/video/Picasso96
- P96 (New paid for version from Inidivdual Computers): https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/shop/product/p96-rtg-software-not-logged-in.html
- MUI (3.8 OR 3.9). Link: https://www.ibrowse-dev.net/download.php (Note: 3.9 can cause stack issues with Posiedon USB, to get around this download StackAttack Link Here: https://aminet.net/package/util/boot/StackAttack2 ).

Optional:
- Posiedon USB stack V 4.5 (Downloadable from the Spider-II area) Link: http://www.elbox.com/downloads_mediator.html
- Arakattack Link: https://aminet.net/package/driver/other/ArakAttack
- Miami DX or Roadshow (MiamiDX is now Free, Roadshow is a Payable software for download)

Operating Systems tested on. OS3.9 and OS3.2.2.1

Guide to installation:

Prometheus software quick installation guide
--------------------------------------------
1. Install MMU Library Then REBOOT.

2. Install Picasso96 software.
Select Cybervision 64/3D as the graphics card.

3. Unarchive the Prmlibs.lha file and copy over the Voodoo.chip and Prometheus.card files to Libs:Picasso96.

4. Copy over the Prometheus.library and Openpci.library to LIBS:

4. In Devs:Monitors rename the Cybervision64/3d Monitor file to Prometheus. Then Right click the Icon and add to the “Tool Types the following”: DMAsize=2048k

5. Restart computer.

6. In Prefs:P96Prefs or Picasso96 mode setup and attach the Prometheus Card (Voodo3 card) and then setup and test your Graphics modes. Once happy Save and reboot.

7. In Prefs:ScreenMode pick the Prometheus Graphics mode. You should now have a working RTG graphics Workbench.

Optional:
USB setup

1. Install Poseidon V4.5 then Restart
2. Install Arackattack when asked choose “PoseidonUSB”. This will take sometime and appear to have locked up. Then click proceed.
3. Open prefs:Trident and make sure that there are 3 ports online and active.

Optional:
Network

1. Install MiamiDX or Roadshow
2. In Devs:Netinterfaces copy over the openpci_rtl8139 driver file into this area
3. In Prefs:Env-Archive/OpenPci copy over the file openpci_8139_0.config. You can edit this file to setup the speed of the Network card connection. 0 = Auto. 4 = 100MB Full Duplex. I’ve used setting “4”. Can use “0” but can slow the system down.
4. Setup either MiamiDX or Roadshow.

Known fault issues:

On power up of the Amiga workbench if you get “Card_init: No memory for DMA” then check the Prometheus monitor file has the DMAsize=2048k (the k on the end is not a typo, has to be included in the line).

POPO MUI error (Pop Up for Poseidon/Trident to alert to USB devices being inserted and removed), about needing bigger stack size. This comes up with using MUI 3.9. Fix is to use StackAttack. In Startup-Sequence use the syntax StackAttack MIN=32400

NOT COVERED HERE (YET):

- Firebird Firmware updates.
