You know what's the worst thing about environmentalism? Every freaking time there's rain or a warm day, a bunch of people start gasping and pointing out the sky is surely falling.  :-P

The end is definatly nigh!

There was a big, painfully bright glowy thing in the sky over Manchester last week. People stared in amazement. Cars crashed as drivers gawped at the spectacle, pitifully warding away the painful glare with their hands. You could actually feel the heat of its radience. Even the very sky itself had taken on a sinister azure glare, it's normal rumpled, billowing gray appearence snuffed out of existance by the intrusion.

Yet this is not all...

Strange, dark ethereal creatures followed everyone and everything around, mimicking their shape and form yet flowing and distending smoothly across surfaces with an oily tenacity. No matter how much you tried to avoid them, you could not. They would connect with you wherever you touched the ground. People jumped frantically, fearing possesion from these sinister beings.

Finally, the the sky reverted to its returned to normal form, the air cooled and the demonic dark entities evaporated as mysteriously as they had first appeared. The daily deluge of water returned from the sky and a near psychic sense of relief pervaded the beleagured people, everybody joining in rapture at the return of normality.

To this day, nobody can explain the events, but it is clear that things are changing :nervous:

laugh all you can!
but here in NL we didn't have a decent winter since 1997! (Wich also was a rarity last decennia)
I get grumpy if I can't skate on natural ice in the winter.

It's the middle of winter here and the weather has been really nice.  Warm, little rain, the grass is growing and plants are flowering out of season.  I have had strawberrys growing now, they should not be ready until November.  The weather patterns have sure been screwed up.  Maybe the greenies have a point?   :-o  :nervous:

Popular legend has it that Julius Ceaser was so fed up with our British weather during 54BC he had someone crucified for saying:

"Hail Ceaser!  Reign forever!"

And the closer the sea gets to your door, the more your property is worth. (to a point)

Hum,
Lack of rain?
Looks like folks are leaving Sydney in droves for the mountains and hills beyond the city...
The cause of the mad rush? An unseasonal smattering of snow, of course!
Overnight snow dusted much of south-eastern Australia, including the Blue Mountains just west of Sydney and the hills south of the city...

Only if you believe in Creationism. The land that is Florida was probably desert, swamp, tundra, mountain, and under the sea, all at one time or another. It's all in the rock.

Well, it's gonna cost sweet dear money big time. Already here in NL, the government is investing in infrastructural changes, to prevent damage caused by minor floodings happened the last decade.

"God created the world, but the Dutch created Holland"

some months ago i saw a discovery channel show about this giant robot thingy (http://www.discoverychannelasia.com/extremeengineering/home.shtml) they built in Holland.

down the page click Holland's Barriers to the Sea (http://javascript:openwindow('holland_explore/holland_explore.shtml','popup','toolbar=no,width=770,height=487,directories=no,status=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,menubar=no');) and if you are on a windows/linux/Opera system, blah, blah, you can see some flash images.
