WTB: Amiga 4000D Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:35:46 PM »
I am purchasing an Amiga 4000D that needs some stuff to get back up and running.

I need a Keyboard (Note: The A4000 uses a special keyboard connector that is different than the previous machines), a mouse (preferably the mouse that would be original to this machine), and a monitor (it would also be nice if this was original for the A4000D).

Let me know what you have and I will reply asap.

Thanks
Commodore 8-Bit: Vic-20, Plus/4, C16, C64, C128
Amiga: 500, 2000HD, 2500, 4000D+VT4K+Flyer

If you want a mouse the best thing to do is buy a $50.00 PS/2 mouse adapter.  This will let you use PS/2 laser mice forever and ever and ever.

Then buy a $6.00 PS/2 LaserMouse from NewEgg or wherever.  You probably already have some lasermice laying around your house you can use.

Amiga mice were just as good as any other mice in 1992.

But when Lasermice got invented years later, all the old ball mice became obsolete.

Lasermice are massively better and easier to deal with.  More accuracy = less stress on your tendons and nerves = less hand problems.

You can probably get a PS/2 keyboard adapter from Amigakit too.  Then you can use PS/2 keyboards.  Once you have your adapter you can go to WASDkeyboards.com and order a keyboard and request AMIGA keys for your OS keys and they will laser print the Amiga keys for you (so no retarded M$ Windoze logo).

I recommend the keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches.  They are so wonderful to type on.  And get the 40a O-rings for a smoother ride.

I use PS/2 keyboards and mice on all my Amigas.  But I gave away my A4000D so I can't really remember how the adapters work for that model.
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA

What I like about laser mice is their weight - they're extremely light in comparison to roller ball mice....so yes, easier to handle and less stress.
I have to disagree with the accuracy statement though. If you have clean mice balls with high Dots Per Inch then the balls win in my opinion. Just a shame they're heavier. Yes...you have to clean them once in a while, but it's a small price to pay.
