So I you’re all saying I can just disregard the entire software license? I am fine with that, it’s a load of BS anyhow. Why would I buy more copies then? Not like I use more than one system at a time anyways. Also, who in their right mind would buy Os 3.1.4 now, when bugs only get fixed in 3.2, which will have to be bought again?
You could certainly wait until 3.2, if that is coming out? (I hope so). There could be a free update to 3.2 or a reduced "upgrade" price if coming from 3.1.4, I don't think we know yet.
The MorphOS team handles this situation differently. You can install MorphOS on as many machines as you want, you get a time limited demo before it slows down to almost being unusable. So you buy a keyfile bound to the mac address of your computer. That method seems to work, but that is never the way C= or even companies beyond C= like Escom etc. sold their OS's. They were either bundled with the computer or sold as separate paid products to existing owners of Amigas.
Hyperion could move to the keyfile model if they so chose. For me personally I don't mind to buy a copy for each of my Amigas (I'm down to two that support 3.1.4 - an A2000 and an A4000). More sales means more chances of furture updates and some of that profit will go to paying developers in the future. I bought 2.0 when it came out from C= and it was a massive update. 3.0 came with the A1200/4000, then 3.1 again was a paid update (exeption: A4000T/Escom 1200 - shipped with 3.1) if you already had an amiga, as was 3.5, and 3.9. So you are going to have to pay one way or the other. If you own 3.1.4 hopefully at a reduced price unless 3.2 is a massive upgrade which would justify a full re-purchase. And if you are buying 3.2 and already own 3.1.4 you are paying for the updates/fixes/changes, not re-buying what you already bought in 3.1.4, thus hopefully it will be at an "upgrade" price.
