If I recall, the A500 and A1000's expansion slots were the same pinout, only mirror images of each other. To use accessories designed for one, you would have to install it upside down in the other, besides that they should be compatible. (I'm not sure, though. I'll do some digging on pinouts.ru again)

Not exact: the only difference is the position the device when plugged in. Devices are plugged "backwards" on the slots. "Mirrored"

Err... The "BIOS" chip is dated 1992... Surely, nobody would have still been producing A1000 stuff that late?

Maybe it's actually for an A500? In which case it might work on the A1000's expansion slot too...

hmm, didn't know they made and IDE controller for the Amiga 1000.  Minus the bios, doesn't really look like they had to put much there.  Makes me wonder...

It looks to me like they used a PC IDE card and converted it for the 1000, because you can see the end of an IDA connecter.  Not sure about the amiga bios chip though.

Is this a homebrew thingy or did someone actually produce these?  Where did the picture come from?

Possibly the first time I've ever seen an "Amiga BIOS" chip :-D
