Old C64 User new to the Amiga world
« on: October 07, 2005, 03:58:01 AM »
I held out against the onslaught of PCs until 1997. I used my C64 for everything back then. A Commodore 128 was a fantasy and the amiga was so out of reach it might as well have been fiction ;-)

I got gifted an Amiga 1000 in 1998 but just recently dug it out.

I am a firm believer that todays OS's need way to much horsepower for what they do and I try to run the smallest lightest OS's on my PCs that I can (well except my gaming PC it runs XP..blah).

Anyway I am very excited about firing up my Amiga 1000 and would love any tips on what I can do with it. I am also looking forward to finding a more expandible Amiga (1200 perhaps). So if anyone has an extra 1200 laying around in the US or Canada, I'm your man!!

Anyway,that's me.

I'll give that a try. I was actually trying to read up on "upgrades" for my 1000.

I am definately keeping my eyes open for something in the A1200 + range (I'm sure I can find old Amiga's around here in the heart of Ohio if I am vigilant and go to garage sales with my wife). Of course if a 3000 or 4000 fell into my lap I sure wouldn't complain.

I'll be glad to trade knowledge with people here if anyone needs it, since I am a unix/linux/firwall/cisco guru and such a newbie in the Amiga world.

Ah ha, I did hook up with an A500 finally! I sure will keep my  eyes open for that 1200 when it comes time for you to sell it.
I am sooo looking for a 3000/4000 so I can run an Amiga to do things instead of always using a PC (I have 10 PCs, a mix of win2000/XP and a slew of Debian Linux), and an iMac, running OSX, but man that A500 and A1000 are much more fun to use.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I look forward to giving you all my money so I can buy Amiga crack, I mean stuff ;-)
