Hi mate,

You mentioned in the previous thread you were able to make a backup of the ROM.  Have you made this public yet?

Cheers,
Chris

I am auctioning the Amiga Walker right here an Amiga.org:

The Walker is the very last of the Classic Amiga range.
It was to be the successor to the A1200 but never made it beyond prototype stage.
It is exceedingly rare, there are only 2 (or possibly 3) in existence.

The Machine is a prototype made of some plastic, almost card like material so it is very fragile.  It has its own custom motherboard that was clearly still in development.

Does it work?
No. Power appears to be getting to it but it does nothing beyond that.
It used to boot years ago but it was erratic even then.

Can be made to work?
Sorry, don't know.

Will it boot?
No.  The RDB of the disc was overwritten by Windows 98.  It should be easy to fix this but I don't have the means.

What else is included?

Original black painted Keyboard.
Amiga branded black mouse (left button is dead).
Amiga branded CRT Monitor M1438S

--

Collect only from Cambridge UK (I'm about 4 hours from Paris by train).
Payment via Paypal or bank transfer.

If you are interested bid via PM. I'll list the current (anonymous) max bid in the thread.

Starting at £250.

Note: I reserve the right to ignore silly bids and snipers.

Several guys are doing custom cases, I've seen a remake of the C64 case recently. Maybe they could do a walker case..

Maybe I'm biased, but I love the case design of it.. I'd rather have THIS on my desk than a boring looking PC.

That reminds me, did anyone see what salax54 pulled off with his mod of this case, it pritty neat!

Will do.

It did work at one stage yes.  It was incredibly temperamental and difficult to get it going but it did actually work.

Here are some new pictures (with measurements!) I took a while back.
There's also some pics of the numerous patches - you can tell it's a prototype!

As for the ROM and HD, images were made of these a while back.
I have passed them to someone who has a license to distribute them.

In answer to the question above I believe it's just a modified 3.1.  As for the CD-ROM drive, I didn't ever see it working.

Top bid of £800? Looks like I'm well out of this one now :( I put in a bid for the max I could afford, lol...

I just hope whoever gets it will put the time into fixing it :)
Back to action!

Who could possibly have the license to distribute unborn hardware and software, Satan ?

I think and hope Cloanto have got them, and it be nice to see if they did make a virtual Amiga Walker setting in Amiga Forever.

Well I'm bidded out, I put in £300 and set my absolute limit to £600, I could still go for it but that would mean no AmigaONE X1000 for me, and I would quite like to get one of them. I do hope who ever get it, bring it to shows and dont mess around with the insides too much and just take good care of it.

PS: has petro still got the other prototype or is that this one? wasn't their three made, two with cases and one just the motherboard, any one know what happened to the others?

No new bids but I do keep getting asked about will I post it.

I am *very* reluctant to post it.
I've had things posted to me that have been thrown about quite badly.  I once had a PC sent to me and all the polystyrene abound it was broken.

The Walker is *very* fragile so won't survive any abuse at all.

The only thing I can think of is to dismantle it, package the parts up separately and send them that way.

Even then, I can not guarantee it will survive the journey.

Hard cases is a better option but they'd be expensive and I don't even know where you'd get them.

Then there's the cost of sending it and insurance, if it's outside the EU there's also customs to deal with.

Coming here by car or train is a far safer option.
This is why I have put it as collect only.

To my knowledge there were a few boards made but only 2 or 3 were placed in the case.
Petro told me it was 2, he has one of them.

This page says 3 were put in the cases and also says about Workbench 3.2.
