« on: April 09, 2016, 05:53:26 AM »
Hi All,

This is a thread to cover information relating to the monthly Adelaide Retro Computing meetings, held in Adelaide, South Australia.

Our website is at http://adelaideretrocomputing.blogspot.com.au

Our Facebook page is: http://facebook.com/adelaideretrocomputing

To start off here is a blog post I did covering the latest Adelaide Retro Computing meeting held on April 8, 2016 with lots of photos from the event.

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/adelaide-retro-computing-meeting-april.html

The theme was Commodore and Amstrad machines for this meeting, and is was a lot fun with plenty of interesting hardware displayed, Commodore Amiga, C64, SX64, CDTV, Amstrad CPC464,6128, 6128 plus, GX4000 and more!

We also had a presentation on Amstrad computers and a presentation on Commodore 64 game preservation efforts by a Gamebase 64 team member.

This is a monthly meeting, so please follow our Facebook page or website for news on the upcoming meeting theme and other information!

Catcha,
Epsilon

Our next Adelaide Retro Computing event is being held this Friday May 13th, 2016 at the Eastwood Community Centre from 7:30PM!

People are encouraged to bring their Vintage  Computers/Consoles along to create a show-and-tell atmosphere. For this  meeting we are particularly interested in seeing Vintage IBM PC &  Compatible systems prior to the year 2000!

If you don't have  one of these systems - no problem! Please bring along any Retro computer  system you may have as all are welcome - we still want to see it! Amiga systems of course are very welcome!

If you are bringing machines along, please arrive at 7pm to set-up before the event starts. Thank you.

At the meeting on Friday we're also giving away a 286 Kambrook  "portable" as a door prize.  It's Full of 80's goodness, a 286 processor, monochrome LCD  and two 720k floppy drives.  It works and it comes with two 720k disks,  power adapter and instruction manual!  Attend the event and you're  eligible to win.

Aron has kindly agreed to bring his soldering  kit and diagnostic kit this month to help attendees who might need some  small soldering work done! We ask a small $2 fee to cover costs for  this. It would be helpful to let us know here if you want soldering done  so we can make sure we can help with your requirements.

Extension cables/power-boards are useful to bring to make sure you are able to connect your equipment up!

There is a small cover charge of $3 per person to cover the costs of hiring the venue, etc.

Our website with the Eastwood Community Centre meeting location details  (95 Glen Osmond Road, Eastwood), with a map and details on how to get  there  is at http://adelaideretrocomputing.blogspot.com.au/

We look forward to seeing you there!

Catcha,
Epsilon
