And the beta of AmigaOS4.0 is being exhibited today in Sydney, and on the 18th in Brisbane!

I an one of 40 in Australia awaiting delivery of a A1 motherboard; in my case as a fully-built system!

JurasicCamper.. As rumours do.. if they are repeated many times
enugh .. some wil belive :)

Anyhow.. What counts is number of users.. Not boards made and sitting
on warehouses (or cupbboards) aroud the world.

So... Mr(?) Jones ..

Hope thats cleared it up for you !!

Cos it sure as hell hasn't for me !!  :-o

But if its any help to you... I'm one of many that HAS purchased an AmigaONE G4xe .. The only problems I have/ARE encountering are due to my lack of knowledge/experience of Linux.

I am also into Non Linear Editing as I film weddings ..Christenings ... Pantomines etc and am hoping to move my capture/edit systems over to A1 in the near future ...

If that means having to go through some headaches with linux ...So be it !!

But,  finally,  remember ... As an A1 owner ...I MUST be biased !!

 :-D  :-D  :-D  :-D

@lempkee

There is NO connection between Merlancia and Genesi, and there won't
be any (there was some in 2001, but bPlan soon found out that Ryan is
just a joke, and thats why there won't be any new).

SharkPPC ? Don't get me started on that one ..... ;-)
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

"Phew, um .... thank you all the responses, and :) thank you for welcoming me back there. Sorry about taking *so* long to respond; RL gets in the way so much! I read most of the documents I could get my paws on :) but it's still all quite confusing to a point; some like the Pegasos, some like the Amigaone, some like Amiga inc, some hate Amiga inc.....on that I still don't know what to think. I must admit the pegasus looks intresting, though I note that both it and the Amigaone use the PPC chip, the same chip as found in the apple mac.

Why do I mention this? About a year ago, I bought an old second hand Powermac G3/233; I was lead to believe that "megahertz myth" was true; that the powerpc CPUs were faster than their intel equivilents. To cut a long story short, I found that a Mac G3/233 with OS8 struggled against a intel-based PC with a significantly slower (in terms of Mhz) CPU(!). What I'm trying to point out is my experience with the powerpc chips so far hasn't been very good. I'm wondering how this affects the amigaone/pegasos.

So....right now, for me the jury's still out as I am still reading stuff(!).

Everyone's posts here have been helpful :) but I'll admit, there's more to the subject of the new amiga than meets the eye! Thanks everyone for responding :) .
