Amiga A1060 Sidecar
Amiga A1060 Sidecar
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Here is my new Amiga Sidecar running IBM DOS 3.1 in windowed mode under "A1060 Workbench 1.2D V33.56 7-MAI-87".

This unit (serial no. DA4 001940, Made in W.-Germany) has different type of floppy drive than seen in most photos in web. It's BASF AG 6128, 360 kb capacity. When a floppy is inserted, user must push in the button on the floppy drive. The drive has a solenoid that pulls the drive-head assembly down to the floppy while reading/writing. While it's down, it also blocks the eject button from working. When the button is pressed, the floppy is pushed out from the drive.

This unit is missing it's front-panel logo, I am looking forward of making a replacement.

Nice expansion, i really like the looks of it. By the way, keep in mind that the 1080 monitor you're after is a 120V NTSC model!

For some reason I don't think I am going to keep the Sidecar connected all the time; I just can't come up with a valid reason to use extra 120 Watt of power just to be able to run 8088 PC while using my A1000! :D

Yeah, the 1084S is looking rather tatty. The front-panel flip is missing, original power switch is gone (replaced with a right-hand side rocker-swithc by the previous owner), the picture starts out-of-focus and has weavy lines on the backgound until it's warmed up. After that, it works perfectly and the picture is awesome!

Still looking for a 1080 monitor ;)

And that's about coolest expansion on Amiga 1000 ever! I couldn't imagine how you lived you life without MSDOS 3 ???! :) Että sillai! ;)

But that 1084 looks terrible indeed.
