I started a topic a couple of weeks back on getting my two Amiga's ready for sale -- they are now ready so I'm starting a new topic. First post is what I have -- second post will be how I propose to sell it -- third post will be pictures. I'm posting now even though I don't have all the details as this project is stalling and I want to keep it going and get it over with.
A4000 -- Rev 6 -- NTSC
Apollo 060 50MHz
65MB Fast RAM + 2MB of Chip RAM (4 sticks of RAM)
Cybervision 64/3D
Spitfire DKB 2296 SCSI controller
Two HDs -- one is stock IDE other is a Quantum Fireball SCSI drive
A2065 Networking Card
Kickstart 39.106 Workbench 40.42 Exec 39.47
A520
Status of A4000
Boots to Workbench on a standard monitor though the VGA output on the Cybervision. When it boots up there is a diskblock error -- you press cancel and computer boots fine and seems to have no additional issues.
Memory: RAM is 4 sticks -- 2 on the Apollo card and 2 on the main motherboard. I suspect that the configuration is 32/32 on the Apollo card and two half meg sticks on the mainboard. If memory serves me right the Apollo works better if there is at least a meg of RAM on the mainboard. I found a memory test and ran it -- said everything is good.
Harddrives: I tested the SCSI drive using ABtools and it has no errors. The IDE drive has an error. I've used the computer for a few hours and there was no problems launching any program on the SCSI drive. The IDE drive I was able to launch every program I tried except one. As far as I can tell you'll get a bad block at boot and a bad block if you try to launch SysSpeed -- all other programs I tried worked fine. Drive has at least two probably three or four programs for fixing errors. Buyer can try to fix it but I won't as it works now and I don't want to mess with that.
The SCSI drive is connected to the Spitfire -- the Apollo also has a SCSI interface. Reason for that was that I added SCSI before I added the 060. As far as I know you should be able to just removed the Spitfire and use the Apollo for your SCSI drive.
I also have a 38GB Maxtor IDE drive -- not from the Amiga but it is a IDE drive that I know is in decent shape. Don't know if it can be used on an Amiga because of the size but happy to throw it in at buyers request.
Software: The computer has a lot of software but no disks for any of it. Stuff that is pre-installed Aladin4D, PageStream3,FinalWriter,Term,HTML Heaven, Voodoo, AWeb3T, Deluxe Paint V, Art Expression, Barfly,Turbo Calc, FinalCalc, Proper Grammer, Alpha Spell, ImageFx3 Art Effects 2, Photogenics, Fusion, Amiback2, AbTools, Quarterback, Quarterback Tools, Read3Dv3, PixPro2, CrossDOS, CrossMAC, plus some more but I figure all this is probably available online for free since the IP protection must have expired by now.
Everything except the system related software is on the SCSI drive. Everything I tried worked -- I tried about 40% of the software.
Keyboard and Mouse:I opened FinalWriter and pressed every key and they all work. The left Amiga key requires an extra hard press but it works. The mouse moves the pointer and the right button works but the left does not.
Battery Damage: The computer has no battery damage. The original battery is still in the computer -- I was going to break it off then found a tutorial on how to remove it properly so was doing to do that but then life interfered. Anyway it has no leaked at all yet. Buyer can request I break or cut it off and I'll happily do it but I'm not willing to remove the entire motherboard to remove it properly. If you want to remove it properly you can do it upon receiving the computer. Figure if it hasn't leaked in all these years it can go another week.
Floppy Drive: Doesn't seem to work
Network Card: I have no way of testing this. Was working when last used.
A520 Not needed as the computer boots using VGA output but included for dealing with future issues. Computer wouldn't originally boot until I removed and reset the RAM. I used the A520 to connect the A4000 to my Dell 3008WFP. Composite input on a monitor is not super common but a lot easier to find than a monitor that syncs to 15. I've used it and it works fine.
The HD light works but the Power light seems to be burnt out. Other than that everything else seems to work.
I am under the impression that the computer will not work if you remove the Apollo card. My understanding is that the original 040 is no longer present. If someone wanted to remove the Apollo they would need to find an 040 to install.
Currently it includes some manuals and the Cybervision and Apollo floppy disks -- I have all the Amiga manuals but still looking for the rest. If I don't find them before shipping will mail them at a later date. The same for the WB disks in the white cardboard folding thing. I know I have them just not sure where.
------------------
A3000 I'll give a more detailed write-up hopefully tonight. It boots without issue and since it has VGA output there is no monitor problems.
The 040 is not an expansion card. It was a custom mod that the store I bought it from did. My understanding is that they took the 040 from my A4000 and installed it in the A3000 while still leaving the original 030 in place. The way it was explained to me at the time was that the speed of the 040 allowed it to intercept all the signals and the 030 would just be unaware that anything was going on. I had the computer in full operation for several years with no issues. In theory I think this would be reversible but this is just speculation as I didn't do the mod and this paragraph is pretty much my complete knowledge on the subject.
It has a A2065 Networking Card and a PhonePak. If you have no need for the PhonePak then let me know and I'll try to find it a good home -- I realize it is basically worthless. I have no way of testing either card but the PhonePak software starts and doesn't report any errors.
I believe the motherboard is Rev 7 but I'll have to check again.
The floppy drive works.
Other than the PhonePak software there does not appear to be anything else on the harddrive.
There doesn't appear to be any battery damage (assuming a blue version that looks a lot like the A4000's red battery is what I am looking for). Same as the A4000 with respect to how to proceed with the battery.
No manuals or although I have some Workbrench floppies -- seems like two different versions.
I'll give more details later on the A3000.
--------
Everything else Amiga related I have is free if you pay the shipping. The person who buys the computers gets first dibs on anything
1084S monitor -- dead. If anyone things they can fix it or needs it for parts
Those Amiga to VGA silver things -- 2 of them.
DigiView Gold (haven't located it yet but I know I have one)
A decent amount of floppies (probably 150-200) no idea on the state of them.
Anything else I find I'll add but I don't think there is much except maybe cables
Joystick -- it worked fine when I last used it. It is that red and black one that everyone had. I think the brand started with a W -- Wico? Waco?
