The Toaster and Tim's Vermeer
« on: June 04, 2014, 08:57:57 AM »
News from Tim Wilson on Creative Cow

The inventor of the NewTek Video Toaster was certain that he figured  out the secret behind the uncanny realism of one of the world's greatest  painters, and certain he could use the same methods to duplicate it.  Really? Yes, really. Join us for a conversation with NewTek founder Tim  Jenison on the unexpected intersection of art, technology, obsession and  the Video Toaster in the wonderfully provocative documentary called  Tim's Vermeer.

Amiga & the Video Toaster are mention several times in the interview.

Tim's Vermeer is available to purchase on Blu ray & DVD on June 10th, 2014.

I really want to see this movie, but they're not making it easy. Sony did a pathetic job on theatrical distribution, and there's no way in hell I'm spending $30 on a BluRay. Hopefully Netflix gets it...

Well, I have plenty of patience. We could all pitch in $3.00 each and snail mail one copy from one member to the next until we have all seen it. Sort of our own "Mini Net-Flix" :)

Completely avoid places like the Pirate Bay and Demonoid, they have nothing but pirated versions of it.

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.

LOL, what do you expect from *cough-cough* "The Pirate Bay"?

I'd download it from there, probably should buy a copy too, when I have a chance.  Added it to my Amazon wish-list!  ;)

Yeah, wink wink. The thing is, I do want to support this movie the "proper" way, but their asking price is utterly obscene.

Fortunately, it appears my local video rental store (yes, I still have one) will be getting it. Quite happy about that - now I can see the movie *and* support a local business!
