Holywood with Designer Tutorial Videos
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:52:45 PM »
I have recently released Hollywood with Designer Tutorial 2 - First steps into programming.

Tutorial 1 - Designer Basics, can be watched from youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgMhmEUMWOM

Tutorial 2 and incomplete Tutorial 3 - "IF Adventure" are available only through Indiego! currently: http://www.indiego-gaming.com/marketplace

While Tutorial 1 and incomplete tutorial 3 are available for free, I will be selling Tutorial 2 for 1 Euro for about a month, after that it will become free as well.

Reason for this, is because I have once again ran out of my trials on Camtasia Studio and demobuilder10, and i havent been able to justify myself to buy the full version of either one.

Hence I am selling Tutorial 2 for a while to give people a chance to support and to give those people therefore an early access to it.

If you do not wish to use money to support, but can use little bit of time, then you could help by getting yourself Indiego and downloading both incomplete tutorial 3 as well as my game "Help My Cat!", as Indiego seems to be paying 10 euros to top 10 developers each month currently, and right now only very few downloads are needed to become one. Hence, using bit of your time, you could help me towards that 10 euros.

Another option is to buy Tutorial 2 for 1 euro, which you can buy from: http://www.ares-shop.de/ (on front page at time of writing this)

Or, if you wish to show even bigger support, then I have extra copies of each Amiga Futures English version magazines, and I can sell you one for 25 Euros, price includes tax (when possible) and shipping to anywhere in the world - as long as its legal and reasonable (cost no more than revenue is - no shipping to moon).  This will naturally also include access to Tutorial 2 video through both Indiego and Youtube.

If you are interested in this, you can email me at: ugalabugala - that character - ugalabugala.net with subject "Hollywood with Designer Amiga Future Offer".

I will send you invoice through paypal or we can try to figure out some other method of payment if you prefer so.

I check my email only every now and then, so give me some time to react to this.

And as Disclaimer: I do not guarantee any of the money i receive from these will be used to buying Camtasia Studio or Demobuilder 10. And even if i do buy one of them, i give no guarantee I will make any more videos in future. I can just say that I do have a plan for tutorial number 4 and I would also like to finish tutorial 3, but no guarantee i ever actually do them. Notice also, that although I am selling tutorial 2 for a while, it is not of professional quality, it is simply amateurs hobby product.

Notice that audio quality in tutorial 2 is quite terrible towards the end and you might even have difficulty in hearing what is said in last minutes, however, i do trust you can figure out what is being taught at end due to video showing things anyway.

In Indiego!
Tutorial videos can be found under platform "Hollywood" under categories "Educational" "Tutorial"

Help My Cat! can be found under "Games" / "Adventure" under multiple platforms (Amigas, Pc, Linux, Mac)

Maybe "Holywood" is more accurate?

@Bugala

Great stuff but I recommend you need to redo the audio because the interference is unbearable.

Hope you can get a cleaner sound and keep the tutorials coming.

Thanks for commenting rob. That audio is real terrible.

It was fine when i shortly tested the recording, and it was fine at beginning, but towards end my (lousy) microphone had moved a bit, and i didnt notice until i was editing and getting towards the end that the audio quality dropped so dramatically.

Since my trial time was running out and I dont have many opportunities to be able to record my voice at all currently, I just had to stick with it.
I am hoping to either re-record it, or remake it. Might be better to remake it, since timing and remembering the speech might be harder than simply remaking the end part.

Also, the beginning suffers from end, since at beginning the audio was quite fine for amateur product, but to make the end speaking clearer i had to use that noise reduce thing, and it applied it to the whole track (might have been possible to limit it to some part only, but couldnt figure it out at that moment), so basically by taking the noise reduction off and redoing the end part of the video, It would probably become good enough already.

It was unfortunate that while Camtasia had 30 days trial, it got mostly wasted as i had trouble getting the microphone recording to work, especially since i was looking the problem from wrong place and waited for a cord supposedly to fix the problem to arrive. I had only couple of days left anymore at point i got that cord and noticed the problem was elsewhere and could have worked right, right from beginning.

Demobuilder10 had that text to speech feature, so i didnt need to worry of when i could record my voice when making tutorial 3, but unfortunately demobuilder seems to be having plenty of shortcomings, one being that i couldnt figure out a way to merge two clips together in it at all, and hence i had to do the video recording in one session, and i had trouble getting time to do that and ran bit short on editing time, especially since i was going to visit relatives already days before the (14 day) trial ended, and was hence once again in a hurry.

However, I am quite happy how that incomplete tutorial 3 ended up. For except for some obvious shortcomings like i should have gave more breathing space between moving to next topics (which is fixable if i get demobuilder) and some demobuilder features i wasnt aware of - like i thought the zoomed area keeps updating when video is made for real, and hence there is for example one part where picture is zoomed and nothing is happening, when i thought it would be showing what i did there - it otherwise looks and works real nice and is definetily my best tutorial video so far.

I also gave a little test for that demobuilders amy character usage at beginning, and it looks pretty nice too, it was just bit timeconsuming to make it do anything meaningful, hence i made it walk out of screen at quite early point in the video already.

In addition to youtubes 3 part video, Tutorial 1 is now also available from Indiego as one video.

I will also soon make tutorial 2 free, maybe this weekend.

from the thread over at aw.net:

@Bugala

great news! I enjoy using Designer for some presentations  and especially my kids projects at school and must admit that even  though I've been using it for years now I still don't know all the bells  and whistles of it so once again thanks for making these tutorials

Let us know if they ever all become free to view/dl, or even available to buy elsewhere.

@duce

Tutorial 1 and incomplete 3 are already free, and tutorial 2 i will probably make free this weekend.

And tutorial 1 is also available from youtube (link in first post), although in 3 parts due to youtubes timelimit, which at time of upload was only 10 minutes still.

I had completely forgot for a while that I hadnt made the Tutorial 2 publicly available on youtube.

Therefore, now Tutorial 2 is available from youtube as well:
part1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpOs8ABe9XQ
part2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE16mnbMJOw

Remember that you can get the tutorial as one video instead of in two parts for free from Indiego Appstore: http://aros-broadway.de/indiego/styled-25/index.html

Not to mention this tutorial have been available from there for free for about a year already.
