(RFD) Are Social Groups working?
« on: July 01, 2009, 03:16:58 PM »
Hi guys,

Looking over the Social Groups, it appears -- at least to me, that the Social Groups module is getting limited success because of the fact they're sorta, kinda hidden for most people.

http://www.amiga.org/forums/group.php

As such, I am proposing the idea to create a "Special Interest Groups" Master forum, then allowing members to create their own sub forums underneath that (by way of form request).

Either that, or I could create a SIG's forum underneath the Coffee House, but to me, the Coffee House is kinda specific to more global discussion on politics, etc.

OR..  We could move CH/Politics, etc underneath the SIG's forum?

I dunno, but I would LOVE some input on how to handle it in the way that would best help the users and get more of you to stick around.

Is it possible for social group posts to appear in the 'recent posts' block. If so I think that would boost their popularity many fold.
That's part of the problem, and the reason I suggested to turn them into forums.  Social Groups (the module) aren't really treated like forums, so can't show up in that type list (new posts).  There is a social groups block on the main forum page, but apparently no one has ever thought about a "Recent" block.
