Best Amiga dedicated/compatible printer?

Hi there again,

Just out of interest to find out what would be the best printer compatible with Amiga computers. If I can get the drivers online for a more modern printer then so much the better, although I will have to wait for the PCMICA Internet card to arrive.
I know I have talked about this before about a HP 710C which is pretty incompatible with Amiga's apparently.
I did notice a Epson Stylus 400 but if it's anything like them old ones for the PC I used to have they are noisy and un-reliable. A HP would be nice or a Canon. Preferably no Lexmarks as the cartridges are hideously expansive.

Any help please? :-?

I have a Dell 1700 that works beautifully.  Its actually manufactured by Lexmark.  Dell just OEMs it (like they everything else they supposedly "make").

Thanks for the info but I would rather have some sort of HP or Canon. Simply because they're cheaper in the long run.

Canon BJC-4000 series

I use a 4200 since .. hmmm 10 years?!
It came with drivers for win9.1/win95/nt4/macos & amiga!
The drivers are still aviable for download.

The printer is cheap (ebay), its a color ink-jet without this "mordern" ink-protection-chips
so its easy to get third party ink for less money.

 I still use a Canon BJC-250 with my Amigas. Even old softwares can recognize it (thought they "think" there is a BJ-10).

 Drivers are on aminet.

Using an epson stylus color 880 here with the driver for a epson 680 with latest Tprint.(7.0?)
It runs on my peg2 but I am sure it will also run with the amiga.
It has some advantages: easy and cheap to replace they are getting old.
Cheap cartridges..I buy new color cartridge for 3 euro the piece.
It prints quite nice and fast and is usb and parallel.

I've been using an Epson Stylus 640 for many, many years. Excellent results when coupled with TurboPrint 7. The ink cartridges are mega-cheap too. You can also get a utility that lets you check the print nozzles for quality and alignment and also clean the heads - all from the Workbench.

I suppose it can be a bit on the noisey side though, as a down side.

Tokyoracer: Well, don't know what to say, for me only Epson's have been reliable (Stylus Photo's), albiet a bit noisy. But my Stylus Photo's have worked on 3 different Amigas with TurboPrint7 for years... in that time I have gone through 2 printers for my PC..... (one Cannon, one HP)

Hmm probably just my own experiances...
I'm mostly tempted with the Cannon so-long as it is easaly compatible with WB. Although I am considering Epson's as the head alignment system is useful tool.

I've just got an ABLE Systems Omniprint OM20 20-Coloum thermal printer working, dating from December 1984. It needed a special cable making up, but otherwise its in pristine condition and working perfectly with my A1200 on the generic printer setting.

But I guess your looking for an A4 printer, per chance?
