Does it work sometime *while* booting, but stop later?

Does pressing caps lock switch the caps lock led on/off
or doesn't it do anything? During boot? After boot?

Do you have something connected to the serial port of your computer? If yes, try disconnecting that.

Also try going into the BIOS and look for settings which are related to PS2 and USB. What are they set to?
