Aladdin 4D Forums have a new home on Amiga.org
« on: June 08, 2010, 10:34:53 PM »
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 08th, 2010

Contact: DiscreetFX

Chicago, Illinois June 8th, 2010 - In order to help streamline and simplify log in accounts Aladdin 4D forums now have a new home on Amiga.org. This should make them easier to access for those interested in Aladdin 4D and current owners of the 3D package. If you have no interest in 3D animation software or Aladdin 4D you can ignore the new forums and not comment in them. New versions of Aladdin 4D are still in development. Over 3000 hours of development have gone into Aladdin 4D 6.0 to make it multi-platform and modern.

The new version will showcase that fast native 3D animation software can scream on Amiga OS 4.x, MorphOS 2.x and AROS. Many exciting 3D animation programs had their start on the Amiga platform but abandoned it for greener pastures long ago. Aladdin 4D will show that multi-platform quality software can be acceived without leaving out Amiga OS, MorphOS & AROS. If you have created an account on Aladdin4d.com you will have to recreate it here, unless of course you already have an account on Amiga.org like many Aladdin 4D owners.

The forums on Aladdin4d.com will remain there during the transition but will eventually be copied and included on Amiga.org. Aladdin4d.com will cease to be a forum in the future and will instead be a full website with details about the 3D package. Forum posting has already been disabled on Aladdin4d.com. If you have any questions we will be glad to help you and answer them. Aladdin 4D 6.0 is not vaporware, a feature incomplete beta for Mac OS X was given to Rich at AmiZed Studios on May 18th, 2010 and he can verify that it is real. The current 5.x version of Aladdin 4D is still available and runs great on MorphOS, Amiga OS 4.x and Amiga virtual machines like Amiga Forever 2010. A fix was included in MorphOS 2.5 that allows the Aladdin 4D installer to complete without problems.

You can access the Amiga.org Aladdin 4D Forums via the link below.

Best regards

Someone e-mailed me asking how you buy the current version of Aladdin 4D. I guess we were not clear enough on that point.

Just checking, we are still allowed to slag off Aladdin and recommend that people buy something else and better, and to say that everyone at the company are jerks, and that they will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes ?

Your free to believe anything you like. We never promised the latest and cutting edge 3D animation tech in Aladdin 4D. It is a entry level, beginners package that also has some cool features like advance gas effects. When we took over Aladdin 4D the code had not been touched in almost a decade (no upgrades). We are not responsable for that long inactivity but since aquiring it over 3000 hours have been invested in making it multi-platform and updating it.

Until we got a peek at the source code we had no idea what we were in for! If you need the latest and greatest in 3D animation software we recommend LightWave 3D. One of the nice things about A4D is it's also available for Amiga OS, MorphOS & AROS. Prepair to be laughed at if you ask other 3D animation vendors to make their 3D app available for those platforms. We could have went the route of making Aladdin 4D Windows and Mac only but we chose not to.

The addition of the Aladdin forums has broken the layout of the Forums page, from what I can see the sub forums need to be setup to display in a similar manner to sections that currently have subforums to repair this.

--edit--

Good luck with further extending/improving of this software!

@the_leander

We are looking into this. The forums are not broken per say but the Aladdin 4D ones are centered vs the standard left justification of all the other forums.

Thanx for the kinds words about Aladdin 4D 6.0. It will be worth the wait and will rub off on everybody. It's important to get this release right.

Rub the lamp, Render the magic.

I just saw this news item.  I was a member of the old Aladdin4d.com forum.  It was useful but hopefully it gets more attention here, and more postings.  PS: to administrator...you can move all my postings from Aladdin4d.com to Amiga.org under my alias, which is that same on both sites instead of using "transition" which I see you have been doing for some of the relocated posts.

I really like Aladdin4d - it is a very capable piece of introductory 3d modelling software.  Don't let its age fool you.  A creative person can make some very nice images/animation with this that would look good even today.

One question: will there be a version 6.0 for classic Amiga users (i.e. OS3.9)?

Thanks for using Aladdin 4D, it's lots of fun.

:)

Yes the forums were moved here so they get more attention and to make them easier to access. We are not sure if Aladdin 4D 6.0 will be for classic yet. The major new feature in 6.0 is that it's Muti-platform. Amiga OS 4.x native, MorphOS native, AROS native, Mac OS X native, Etc. Aladdin 4D 5.x for classic Amiga does not need this feature since it's already Amiga Classic native & Amiga Virtual Machine (Amiga Forever 2010) native.
