I know from one of the other threads, we have at least a couple of tabletop gamers on here. So anyone want to chat about that?

I do a fair amount of tabletop wargaming, mostly my own game rules or ww2 stuff (troops, weapons&tactics, crossfire, Nuts). Some scifi gaming (40K rogue trader, warzone, 5150, stargrunt)

Some old school board games too. Waiting for a copy of World in Flames from ebay

Ahhh, Runequest, my first RPG back in 1980 when I was 10 years old.  Great game, I really loved the Chaosium rules, not so much the revised AH rules, though.

So I also play the following (when schedules allow); Dungeons and Dragons (3.5 ed.), The Hero System (Champions, Fantasy Hero, etc.), Heroquest and Advanced Heroquest, World of Warcraft D20 rules.  There are a few others, and some boardgames/card games my group of friends play, but very infrequently.

Traveler was great, you know Elite and frontier were heavily inspired by it?
We switched to Ringworld after a while -we were all reading Larry Niven.

Tried rolemaster after we had played MERP for a bit, didn't rate it much.

We used to (A)D&D to death when I was younger, D&D, then advanced v1 and 2.

Those I have round on a friday generally want to boardgame/video game still, my nephews still enjoy it. Running them through an old brit game called 'Dragon warriors'.

Didn't Mongoose do a re-release of Dragon Warriors recently ? I dont think it did super well, but I think the title may have been too obscure for a larger market.
The game looked like it had a lot of medieval atmosphere though, just my thing

A friend of mine in Spain is working on a huuuuuuge expansion to advanced heroquest (the old dungeon crawl game). Its all in spanish yet, but he's working on translating it.

Yeah, I got the mongoose version. It's ok, nice to have it in one binding (the original was 6 paperbacks). But they missed a big chance, it's word for word the original copy, with no attempt to fix decades old problems. Your right, it does ooze atmosphere. My nephews love it

Like you guys, I love the BRP system, it's probably my favourite. Other stuff we got through (long time  ago for some of these...)

Yeah, Mongoose can be hit and miss. Their version of Traveller was decent though I didnt see a pressing need to update from Megatraveller+Striker.

The newest version of Runequest tehy did (Runequest 2, not the first one from a few years back) really hit the nail on the head. You can tell they got a pair of really devoted Glorantha guys on board

I used to play GURPS fairly regularly. More recently, and thanks to the shorter time investment required, I've been enjoying the tangentially-related Chez Geek card game, Ninja Burger RPG (1st edition), and Apples to Apples (love it!). And I think my resolve will soon collapse and I will buy Munchkin

How are the version 3 rules?

I used to also own the DOOM III board game with expansion set, but after my Ex and I split, I had no desire to keep it around (we used to paint the figures together) so I ditched it.

Never got around to playing it, but after reading the rules, it sounded like it was the Spiritual Successor to Space Hulk.

Space Hulk and Necromunda are both awesome games.

Always wanted to get the Doom one. I own Descent, which is, I guess, similar rules but dungeon crawling, heroquest style. Very fun, if a bit complicated

@XDelusion The rules are pretty close to first edition, but with out the extra expansions (and I doubt we will get those, it was a limited run). I didn't think having pretty mini's would help the game -but after a few vodka's, having a miniature with the correct equpment shown is a real help.

I always fancied the Doom boardgame, but never got round to it. So your opinions are apreciated. I own quite a few Fantasy Flight games: decent, runebound, war of the ring, arkham horror and twilight imperium etc. But they don't get much play, set up and play time are always long, and the rules a bit complex for my pld noggin.

I wish GW would go back to board games, I loved their stuff.

OH ENVY!!! How I used to love reading Lovecraft!!!!

How is that game anyhow? I knew there was the book/pen/paper RPG style Lovecraft game but it was not till recently that I learned about the board game.
