Oh PLEASE come on people, do you forget history or what.. Steve Jobs moved the NeXT boxes from Motorola over to Intel back in the 486 days..

Steve Jobs is crazy like a fox.  Just because he's at Apple doesn't mean he won't do it again.. Watching what he's done with the new OS looks just like his business plan with NeXT.. This time it could actually work because it is Apple afterall..

NeXTStep and OS X has quite a bit in common with it's *nix style underpinnings and Darwin already runs on x86.. You can download it and install it today.. So never say never. A lot of original NeXT Cube machines, with 68030s never got over the "white next boxes" which were intel 486s.

It would only fit if they did it to gain marketshare, and tip windows off the throne with their OS.. I am sure intel has a similar chip to the AMD64 in the works..

It would be fitting irony since the only "hardware" microsoft will be making will be the Xbox 360 which is moving to a PowerPC chipset..
