Elbox Computer is happy to announce a new tower system for Amiga 1200 computers. BlackBOX 1200 is a perfectly designed, modern, functional, spacious and stylish black tower case.
BlackBOX 1200 allows comfortable use of the most expanded Amiga 1200 computers equipped with Mediator PCI 1200 TX, Mediator PCI 1200 LT4 or Mediator PCI 1200 busboards.
BlackBOX 1200 replaces the discontinued D-BOX 1200, Mirage 1200 and E/BOX 1200 (also known as A1200 Power Tower and A1200 Winner Tower) Amiga tower systems.
BlackBOX 1200 tower systems are just available on preorders at
Elbox Online Store (http://eu-shop.elbox.com/en_GB/p/BlackBOX-1200/734?currency=EUR) for customers from the European Union,
Elbox Online Store (http://us-shop.elbox.com/en_US/p/BlackBOX-1200/734?currency=USD) for customers from other countries.

Glad to hear there is finally a new tower system for the A1200, its been long overdue..
However
£250.00 for a tower to house the 25 year old motherboard
£270.00 for a mediator
£100.00 for a Radeon HD card
£120.00 for an Indvision so i can get HDMI output
£500-600 plus for a 2nd hand PPC board
£100.00 for a rapid road so i can use USB joystick, mouse and keyboard
Total £1300-1400 to upgrade my existing A1200 set up
and people think the new Amigaone X5000 is expensive at £1699.00.......
My money is on buying the new Amigaone X5000 rather than using 25 year old hardware from what I have been hearing the X5000 is a quantum leap over my existing Amigaone 500 machine.....

I notice that they only show a close up of the back of the machine. Presumably the areas on general view are as hideous as the other cases on the site.
Either way - with Vampire 1200 on the horizon reasons to tower an a1200 are thin on the ground.

Glad to see it, but wow is 300 Euros WAY OVER PRICED. ATX towers can be had for as low as 40 Euro in this quality with free shipping even if you look around. I know Elbox needs to make money in this small market, but this is a bit much dont you think?
I have made tower cases for various Amiga models and know it doesnt cost 150+ to build. You could have sold these for 199 and still do very well. Just something to consider.

Hey its "only" $262.22 if you take VAT out of the equation (which we in the US don't have to pay).
But yeah, you can't see any details from the picture, and that IS a lot of money of what might be a really ugly solution.
Maybe they'll throw in a SharkPPC accelerator for the money. ;-)
-
If you want people to buy this you should at least post some pictures (more than 1, anyway). :(

Seconded. While I'm sure it'll look better than anything I could slap together myself with a metal brake, router, and spot welder, I'd like to see what's on offer.

This will be way to much to get into the US. I tried to have Elbox ship me a tiny ZIII riser that sells for $12 and they wanted $40 to ship it.
It sucks having to deal with shipping fees this high and small markets i know, but show us some good pictures of this thing!!! If this guy can do a complete system for only $750US WITH a 1200 board, an freaking ACA1221 accelerator, floppy, DVD-ROM, mouse, keyboard and hard drives shipped to the us for only $60 I know you can do better Elbox!

That machine on eBay looks like it should be 4 GHz or something.

Yeah, that system has been posted before and it looks really cool.
I can't believe it hasn't sold.
It would probably sell easier if IT had a Shark PPC accelerator in it. :hammer:

They do sell, he builds a couple here and there and sells them as a package.
-
great to see new stuff from Elbox:hammer: This looks way better built then my flimsy Infinity Tower Case but the 'powered by Amiga' logo makes up for it eh:)
btw, some more pics of all sides would be good

Does elbox answer to emails on their website? Anyone had any luck?
-
No news on front page on Elbox site?
-
They do answer, it can just take a few days. I have worked with them a lot getting my 4000T and some cards to play together nice with the Mediator in mine.

Do they do systems with PCI expansion?
The price is actually reasonable (especially if you consider what Amiga equipment retailed for originally).
-
Again reiterating what others have said...Saw the price and the ONE image they posted of the case #nothanks. At that price point many hi-res images should be posted.
R.

Elbox have never, ever charged reasonable prices for their towers, ever.
An infinitely better solution would be Vampire A1200 + USB solution for external storage (optical drives, network connection, etc.), all in the A1200's original case.
Towers are for machines that already have slots and the associated expandability, IMO.
-
Any better photos?
-
It's almost like they don't want to sell the thing, posting such a ****** photo. :(
-
at that price they will not sell many.
-
Nice with new hardware :) But why is the PSU taking up so much window space?

For that price I'd expect a proper solid case not a 'window' case. It would be nice to at least have the option of side panels. :(

Who knows what it includes, given the lack of pictures?
Edit: oh look, they added another picture. A close-up of the bottom corner of the case. #Facepalm

lol this reminds me of the before digital camera era where you actually had to develop a picture and print out a physical copy then run home and scan it..seems Elbox has a dark room a few towns away from them at this rate so hopefully in another month we'll see pictures of all sides of this case;)

Camcorder + Amiga + video digitiser = digital camera
