How to install AmiKit on a real Amiga computer.

Dimitris Panokostas, the editor of Greek Amiga magazine called Amigahellas (http://mag.amigahellas.gr/), has written a detailed guide describing how to install the AmiKit package on a real Amiga computer.
The English language document is provided in PDF format and can be found at AmiKit Knowledge Base (http://amikit.amiga.sk/knowledge-base.htm). Enjoy!

In addition, you can update the emulation engine of your AmiKit to the latest WinUAE version easily. Simply download and run the new Add-on installer available from the AmiKit Add-on (http://amikit.amiga.sk/add-ons.htm)  section.

With next live update, can one risk that it overwrites "real amiga" files with "uae amiga" files. Like 68000 version vs. 680x00 versions, or other UAE spesific drivers or prefs files?

Is real amiga officially supported now, or are problems when upgrading your own resp? :-)

Good point, thanks! The document was updated:

If you use AmiKit’s LiveUpdate feature to install future releases, it might happen that your CPU specific files will be replaced by the generic 68k versions (most likely 020+FPU). To avoid this, create a file named “AmiKitReal” in “AmiKit:Prefs/Env-Archive” folder containing one of the following lines according to your CPU:

020
020FPU
030
040
060

Then copy this newly created file to RAM:ENV folder as well. This way the LiveUpdate will exactly know what to install on your system.

His A4000 setup is pretty close to mine.

I'd still like to see a LHA archive which you can extract to a bootable partition with a list of the files you need to copy from your OS3.1/OS3.9 disks/CD.

A bit off topic, but related to AmiKit.

Has anyone tried to use the OWB browser on an emulated Amiga like WinUAE/AmiKit?

The lite version for MorphOS2.2 works very well on my Efika, so I am thinking if there is an OWB version for AmigaOS3.1-3.9, it should fly on my 3.0GHz Core2Extreme PC.

I tried - no luck. OWB does not work under OS3.9 or so...

OWB works under OS3.9. It just needs some extra libraries installed. Check the documentation. In addition I remember the previous versions of OWB required 040 CPU. I am not sure whether it was fixed in latest version.
