Are Tulip crazy?
« on: July 12, 2003, 05:34:04 PM »
Quote from Tulip website:

Quote
Ironstone and Tulip invite the Commodore community to join the official Commodore C64 web-portal. Currently there are about 300 commercial websites that use the name Commodore or Commodore 64 without having a license from Tulip. Tulip will not allow unauthorised use of the Commodore brand.

Yes Tulip , it makes perfect business sense to try and sue the very people you are trying to sell to, the commodore users/community.

They call this a retro revival?

I call it commercial suicide. :-o

Would be kind of nice if they could purchase all Amiga rights back; and bring on a new range... ...the Commodore Amiga :D

I can dream.
Dell Dimension 5000; Dell Inspiron 1300.

What are the plans anyways? To start selling/developing games/apps for the c64? then yeah!! they are fuc*ing crazy  :-)

But if the plans are to port c64 games over to for example pcs, pdas, phones and such.. then i dont think they are that crazy. C64 had alot of great games which im sure many would like to play again today.

They don't have the rights to the games as such - those would reside with atari, activision, ea, etc...  What it seems to mey they are going to do is sell wintel PCs labelled "commodore 64", possibly with a bundled emulator to justify the name.

Then they'll shut down every emulator site and end up just like commodore... :-x

Then the emulator sites will spring up again  :-D
